1997 t4r has super duty axles, 5.13s locked front and rear. 3 link front with 14" kings. Rear 63s.
I have been wanting a rtt ever since I got the tacoma and started camping. I live in Florida so we are limited to a few places we can wheel. Got tired of loading the truck down with 3 to 4 totes of stuff that has to go in the tent when we get to camp. One day I'll be able to afford a cvt or one of the higher end ones but for now I'll be rocking the smittybilt XL rtt. 1099 and I get 20%off of that.

    Main box size is.
    82"x54x33.

Wheels are 17" fj wheels I picked up from a member. And will be using factory tacoma springs that are a recall pack. And some basic shocks.

Started on it around noon and had to take a bathroom break.

What I got so far in 2.5 hrs

At a stopping point ran out of metal.

Got a measurement for the tongue and braces for it. Plus trying to figure out of mine want to do a swing out tire gate or do a regular door. Going to pick up the top rails tomorrow morning and figure out what thickness I want to skin it wth.

Stick of 1x3 and another stick of 2x2 tube but in 3/16 for the tongue and braces. Waiting on the parts I ordered the need to pick up the springs. And order the spring hangers. Might build my own. Have to see how lazy I want to be

Parts came in. Think I went overboard on the trailer jack. 8000 lbs and its massive. Has multiple holes to put the pin to adjust.
This is top hole with jack all the way down.

Little progress due to a order being messed up. 3x3 instead of 2x2 was ordered. Axle tube will be picked up from a different source. That's going to be 2x2 .250 wall due to the spindles I ordered being 1.5" Got the top rails down, mocked up height and decided to take 3"s off the height. Damn portaband is heavy holding it mid air while cutting and trying to be straight as possible.

Used the portaband to make my 45* cuts too. Wasn't too shabby

Spring hangers and gate latch should be here in a few days also ordered tie down points to weld in.

Pics because we all love them. And weld porn
