The card is missing from the visor on the 06' PreRunner TRD OR I just bought. Can someone explain what to do and what not to do?
Since it's a PreRunner would the grey wire mod be in order?

I've also noticed it either doesn't have drl's or they aren't working.
    Thanks

Come to a stop in drive. Push the locker button, start going forward and listen for a click in the rear axle. Sometimes you need to turn the steering wheel left and right to get the back tires to rotate @ different rates. I wouldn't use a locker on asphalt, I wouldn't go over 20mph with it engaged, it's recommended to only use it in sticky situations and in a straight line. As far as the grey wire mod I think that is for 4x4s to be able to use their locker in 2wd. 4wds have to be in 4wheel drive to enguage the locker.
In my case I have a 4x4 06 trd but it has an after market manual transfer case from low range offroad. (inchworm lefti) I can turn my front hubs on with a switch and shut off my vsc. I also can engage my rear locker while being in 2wd. Pretty sweet. If you ever decide that your 2wd is just to high geard in some situations you 2wd guys can actually install one of these to get a super low range, only difference is your still a 2wd cuz you can't make your front tires pull.

grey wire mod was a 1st gen mod to allow 4x4's to use the elocker in 2wd.

doesnt apply to you as you are a 2nd gen prerunner.

As far as using the elocker, its function is to lock the rear axle so both rear tires spin at the same rate all the time. Great for situations when only one tire is spinning, or one tire is off the ground, and the open diff just sends power to the tire without traction.

Also good for easy drifting off road haha.

To engage you must be below 5mph, push the button on the dash, and make a slight turn in ONE direction and continue the turn until it clicks in (light on the dash will go solid once its fully in).

Dont use it on asphalt / high grip surfaces as it will create tons of binding.

turning is just difficult with locker on. That being said I would avoid much turning. My sticker says do not use over 5 mph but I have. I only used the locker on my Prerunner when I needed it. With a 4X4 I engage from time to time just to keep it working correctly. Actually only needed it once with current truck and even then ATARC probably would have done the job on its own.

been easily up to 60mph with the locker in on dirt roads in 2wd on my truck. Makes slides a lil more predictable. plus doughtnuts are much more bad ass than one tire fires.

I agree I always drove with the locker on in my 2wd when I hit the desert.
