I am sure there are answers out there, but what have other owners found are the largest tires one can get with 17" wheels without adding additional lift that will NOT rub on anything? Currently I'm running on factory16" wheels and 245/75r16.

I'd want to get spindle lift and aal in back but cant justify the 3k it'd take to get everything done at this point.

Tire size may come like second nature to some but I'm still learning how it all works. I appreciate the responses.

Just so you know, it's also the biggest tire you can fit with a 3" lift without trimming/cutting/welding.

255/75r17 is slightly narrower but also slightly taller. Ran these on FJ Cruiser alloys, no rub at all on-road or off-road.

I was able to fit 255/80/17 with the following:

    - front wheel well - minor trimming at the front corner. You essentially remove the first fastener and tabs that connects the bumper to the liner. (Very minor and easy) Then use a heat gun to mold or push the fender liner forward in the same area you trim.
    - Minor trimming of the front flare at the very inner/back corner may or may not be necessary.
    - Added additional caster, which sends caster to around 3 degrees.

No trimming in the rear wheel well. Even fully stuffed with 4.5 bs wheels.

The trimming is very easy and essentially you follow existing lines. Notice how I repeat the words minor and easy.....because it's just that.
