Headstrong brought this info to their vendor forum but no one made a thread about it here. I am not affiliated with nor do I represent Headstrong Off Road. Not many people viewed the thread in Headstrong's vendor forum so I thought I would post some of their info here.

The second gen Bilstein 6112 was/is a very popular front suspension system for the second gen and many owners have also used them on their third gen. Bilstein has finally released a 6112 for the third gen 2016+ vehicle.

The part # for the 2016+ Toyota Tacoma 6112's adjustable front strut/coil combo is 47-234413
The part# for the 2005-15 Toyota Tacoma 6112's adjustable front strut/coil combo is 46-241627

This is the chart from Bilstein for the 2016+ clip location for model and given lift:

    Second Gen 6112 on top
    Third Gen 6112 on top.
Notice new base construction. Maybe this is new bottoming cone design?

these have less rebound and digressive compression so it would have jumped lower

Ok so the 2nd Gen spec'd 6112s have 5 "notch" settings for lift. 3rd Gen spec'd 6112s have 6 notches and recommend staggering the notches for driver's side taco lean.

**Assumption for considerations below I am using a V6 4x4 Doublecab and keeping total lift at 2" or less**

I personally would not want to preload the springs too much (assuming it would stiffen/harsh ride the more you max out the settings--exponentially given the way spring preload works? unsure) BUT Bilstein recommends setting at #4 and #5 notch for the ~1.5" lift on these 3rd gen spec'd 6112s. That seems a bit high on the scale of "available settings" and maybe giving more preload than is advantageous for maintaining or improving factory ride? Thoughts on that?

Heard great initial feedback from @Threerun on keeping the 2nd Gen spec'd 6112s on his 3rd gen 4x4 DCLB at 3rd notch with a 3 leaf progressive AAL in rear but then he reported a bit of settling in the front; to the point he said he would have bumped up to the 4th notch (had he kept his truck) and consider adding UCAs to maintain Factory Alignment for that higher setting. So now you're potentially venturing into another ballpark all together. Although other feedback I've seen is that the alignment is fine as long as you keep it below 2" of lift.

Of course if you go with what appears to be a more moderate setting #3/#4 notch the specs are claiming only 1" lift. So that's OK I could live with 1" lift in the front but if you're considering say the 3-leaf AAL (added closer to 2" of lift to Threerun's rear), wouldn't you be sitting ass-high (too much rake)? If so, then I wonder what your best option would be for the rear.

I have the 3rd gen 6112 set at stock ride height for now.(from headstrong) they rock

I love it over the sport Hitachi shocks. I will tell you that in LA they absorb the crap road WAY better. night and day. I used to be able to go over a speed bump at like 5-10mph and now I have to slow it down because these are more stiff than the OEM.. That is my only complaint and it is just me bitching.. I went over a giant pot hole and my truck was gliding over it.

well worth the price and up grade.

I think I will only raise to a 1 inch lift when i do a AAL in the rear but thats all as the ride it so nice now.

Which AAL are you considering to gain only 1" in the rear? And it could be I'm just way overthinking this.

Anyone running these with the drivers side 1 notch different? Does it have a negative effect of each side riding differently?

Haven't heard of anyone doing it but consider adding a 1/4" spacer effectively does the same thing preload the spring more for extra lift to offset the lean

Right, I've definitely thought about that, and for 30 or so bucks from headstrong probably worth not risking the potentially funky ride

I would put a little stock in Bilstein themselves calling out the ability to run with different clip setting on DS/PS. Those guys know their shit.

I hear ya, which is why I'm wondering if anyone has done it yet and what the results were. There's a possibility that, if they designed it that way, then it will ride better than with a spacer and both set at the same notch. It's a great idea to solve a problem without any additional parts

I did the same lift as @Threerun. No extra weight on the front and it settled too much. Started rubbing with 265/70r17s. Had to move up to the 4th notch.

Wow it sagged that much? The 265/70/17 don't even rub on stock to my knowledge?

Yep. Was a little surprised. No big deal though, still have to address the rear now as it sits lower than the front. Still researching new leaf packs. My OEM squeak all the time now.

Damn that is not good news. So the Progressive 3 Leaf AAL sagged that quickly? Crazy I have not heard this many bad reviews on it. You have an access cab as well? Where did you buy the 3 Leaf AAL?

Went with Headstrong AAL and removed the overload. Its a quality AAL by all means. Can't really say anything bad about it. I like the factory rake and it was perfect before I started rubbing. Just don't want to deal with the squeaks anymore. Also have a plate bumper in the garage waiting for install.

Only if you put the spacer between the hat and the spring. I thought the 1/4 inch spacer was above the hat? That wouldn't compress the spring
