    IH Scout!

My dad had one with a slant four which he promptly swapped for a small block chevy. That scout got us into wheeling and now it's a family affair!

$56k for a scout is crazy.

My 1965 Scout was $900 in 1992. Put $500 into bodywork, then got a forest green $150 Earl Scheib paint job. Painted the top tan. 196 4 cylinder that idled around 400 rpms. Awesome tractor engine. Had 31" BFG AT's on factory 6" wide steelies. 4.27 gears with positraction. Unstoppable.

My 1972 Scout 2 was better equipped, but didn't work with the whole car seat situation.

    http://expeditionportal.com/botm-scout-ii-four-wheel-camper/

Would have been great to finish that project, but I've wheeled the Tacoma way more than both of those vehicles. Can't argue with the reliability of Toyotas.

    No big.

Never seen an Earl Scheib, I just remember reading about Scheib from old car research and wanted to see if I was crazy or if you were.

Turns out we both are. Womp womp.

Had an on-road food fight (open campus lunch high school) the day earlier. Buddy hit the tailgate with a piece of hot dog. The good folks at Earl Scheib painted right over that dab of mustard/ ketchup.

Also had the 72' painted at Earl Scheib in 2006. It was supposed to be a trail rig. A guy who I hadn't seen since 9th grade was the manager there. My decent prep work and his "hook up" paint job made the Scout pretty awesome. He added 2 or 3 layers of clearcoat and painted the doorjambs for free. I had that thing stripped down though and did most of the taping before going to them. No door handles, emblems, grill, or headlights/ taillights. Got a $2k paint job for $350.
