So, new to the forum and Tacomas and could use some assistance.

Have a 2007 DCSB that I'm wanting to do some mods on so we can hit some of the back roads and jeep trails here in CO. My initial thought is a 2.5" lift so I can avoid UCAs. For now, the truck will not have much in the way of add ons, but I could see us doing a bed rack and an RTT at some point. So, as I contemplate this lift, I want to use parts that won't require me to totally scrap everything I add now. My initial thought is just run some Bilstein 5100s and an AAL, then if we add an RTT, I can pick up Dakars or something similar.

Also, as I look at upgrading tires, I need to keep in mind that the truck will most likely see some highway miles this year, including a trip to Arkansas, Dallas and, perhaps, Georgia. I MIGHT just keep a second set of wheels/tires for those trips, but I might not. I'm leaning towards Duratracs or S/T Maxx tires. With a 2.5" lift what size tire would work well?

    Thanks in advance!

    Giff

Better to ask what I have not done.
    Welcom to the party Giff,

I would keep your front lift as a starter now but think you would like dakars a lot more then an add a leaf in the back, you can fit 285s with that combo with a little trimming in the front. And non in the rear. You might try the colorado bs page for more people though as thats where they normally hide out. I can tag you in it for you so you can find it.

    Jake,

I think what you have in mind is a great starter. You'll still want to consider UCAs at 2" of lift though. The stock a arms run out of caster pretty quickly. If I were in your shoes, I'd go with 5100s with 885 coils, a pair of JBA balljoint UCAs, and an AAL & 5100s in the rear. I prefer 265/75r16 tires over the 33" tires a lot of people tend to run.
