Does anybody know how many key combinations Pop and Lock uses on the PL5500 model. The one with the 2 separate small keys. The PL5400 has the Bolt programmable with ignition key but a lot of people say they have problems with it malfunctioning so I would buy the PL5500 if there was a lot of key combinations. The only thing that concerns me is that if they only use a few combinations which would be thieves could easily have collected up as the key cylinders are probably same for all makes of trucks. I checked with Pop and Lock and the only thing they say is they have improved and strengthened their products with fibreglass reinforced nylon (like the OEM) instead of plastic and stainless steel in their mechanism. The Toyota dealer says they no longer sell tailgate locks for the Tacoma and if I use the electric, there could be warranty issues if I splice into wiring. The manual Pop and Lock is Ok with them - Thanks Jeff

It's an odd concern IMO but I get it. 1. I wouldn't worry about someone having a pop lock key and targeting pickups. Maybe I should, it I don't. 2. What part of your warranty are you worried about by splicing a wire to the tail gate?

I really don't know but if there was an electrical issue, they might blame it on the Pop & Lock - They said they have had a lot of issues with Pop & Lock in past and Toyota no longer sells them as after market product. When I was a mechanic (retired) I know that with the wheel locks is that there was a master set that would work on all the factory locks (which were aftermarket as well) and there were few combinations. I am trying to decide between the one with keys or the Bolt one which uses the ignition key but seems to have problems. I have ordered hard cover and would like it secure with a tailgate lock of some type
