    Hey guys
Just bought a new 2016 Tacoma Trd Sport after having a 1993 Toyota truck which had 291000 when I traded it in.. Has anyone put the 3m protection on their hood and mirrors or is there something else that you recommend to protect the paint on the front end of the truck.

    Thanks

I had the dealer install the clear protection, a little expensive but I had my last dodge for 12 years and I opted for the protection this time. the package covers all of the painted surfaces in the front, about 1/4 of the hood, door handle cups, door edges, and mirrors. $699 plus tax

Spend the extra money and get Xpel film. http://www.xpel.com/
I have it on my truck and am pleased with it so far.

X2!!! I am an installer for Xpel and I wouldn't choose anything else! 10 year warranty on a self-healing film.

Xpel and 3M are both great products and I would swear by either of them. Good investment and I have had them on two previous cars and love the clear bras.

What kind of difficulties does applying a paint protection film present when needing to clay, seal? I assume you do not do anything to the area where the film has been applied, right?

You treat it just like your paint. You wash it, you clay it, you polish it, you wax it. Just need to mask tape the edge when you're polishing and waxing to prevent product build up on the edge.

the films look like crap when they get rocks chips, bugs, and other things that cause road rash. Also, if you ever need paint work, the body shop will hate you for putting it on

You must have had cheap film. No decent clear bra is going to get chipped. And bugs... you clean them off the same way you clean them off your paint. Road rash ? What are you doing to your vehicle to give it road rash ?

3M clear film. where the rocks hit, it makes little white bumps in the film. looks terrible by the end of summer

I have had clear bras on two cars for a total of around 10 years. I have NEVER had and "little white bumps" on either of them. I just sold a car that was 3 years old and I had to point out to the dealer during trade in that it had a clear bra on it, they couldn't even tell.

Which surfaces did you have the film applied on your vehicles? Thinking about going this route but not sure I need it all over

Can't look worse than the freckles of dozens of little paint chips...

Wish I'd had it done on my blue funcar a few years back.
