Do you guys do all of your basic work yourselves or do you take your trucks in to do oil changes and what not?

Pretty sure most do everything. I take mine in to the dealer cuz I still have Toyota care. But I'll be doing my own once that's up

I do everything myself except when i need something welded.
basic work i think it's safe to say the majority of the people on here do it themselves unless they still have Toyota care like @uplifted mentioned.

I'm still under my 100k warranty for broken shit. However, maintenance I do myself. I'm due for plugs, coils, and diff change. Steam traps are still good for another 5k.

Factory Oil Filters on the tacoma is the way to go. Some guy on here did a phenomenal write up and comparison on filters. The Toyota media when cut in half and compared to the others was just top notch. This is for the Tacoma, however.

Also, for Tacoma owners, never flush and fill your tranny fluid. Drain and fill only. Several people have told me this including a guy I met that works in the TRD department at Toyota.

Yeah. I plan to take mine in to get everything checked out since I bought it, oil change, everything torqued on my suspension to make sure it's all good, gasket checks, etc. Just so I have a baseline. I used to do my own oil changes but it was a pain in the ass to dispose of the oil and it's just as cheap to go to the shop.

I just take my used oil to autozone for recycling. You're right though. Nothing like a clean bill of health.

I've got a 55 gallon drum that I pour my used oil in (3 vehicles, 2 motorcycles, dune buggy, 8L V8 motorhome). Whenever I go buy oil I take in at least 3 cases of used oil, even with that my drum filled up. I've found that Walmart is pretty damn good about taking oil, they even let me take in the 55 gallon drum and I use a Harbor Freight drum pump to empty it straight into their vat. Even with a warranty I wouldn't let anyone do basic maintenance on my vehicle, worked for AAA for 5 years taking calls and I can't tell you how many people lose their engine within a few blocks of those places.

I used to take my used oil to my old work. We had a 400 gallon oily waste tank I would dump into. Having a 55 gallon drum at the house is player. Mucho Respek!

Covered in stickers and chrome stick-ons for extra horse torques and foot powers. Icon sticker gets me tons of travel, dozens of milimeters.

I do just about everything I can afford time/experience wise myself. If I'm in a jam or otherwise I let a trusted shop handle it.

In other news, I don't even understand how this works in CA... https://www.turners.com/info/nra-ar-match-2017-03-18 how are they using 30rnd mags is beyond me.
