Stupid perhaps but a rule is a rule.

Not sure why Glenn insists on it..my guess is the flash may distract him, or what if someone in the band has seizures?

I go to a lot of concerts and to be honest I feel it disrupts my experience at times. I don't mind someone taking a picture per se, but if I'm watching the show and someone in front of me holds their phone up in the air blocking me they are a douche.

After my "Dealership Bureaucracy" rant, I realized what the problem is...

I know how to change oil and do basic maintenance. My Tacoma is legally mine (The title is in my name; I pay for insurance, gas, routine maintenance, and all other expenses that come with owning a vehicle). I have good job that makes decent money, and I have savings. However, I've decided that I'd rather live with my parents and save money so I don't have to settle for a dump of an apartment.

Problem is, my dad won't let me change my oil in his driveway. He hasn't changed his own oil since 1992.

It's bad enough that Pennsylvania allows a serious conflict of interest by tasking the very people who profit from fixing vehicles with inspecting them. Is there any way I can convince him of the bond between a man and his truck?

I want to change my own oil...

Also, I'm a prolific A/C user in the summer. In my area, it still surprises me how even the nicest apartments don't have air-conditioning of any kind (not even thru-wall room units). My boss's old house does not have central air, and I have helped her install the window units before. It's not that hard, and the window units in question are two General Electric 10,000 BTU units purchased at Home Depot. Boss's house is VERY small and they work GREAT! For the winter, my boss's house has an old Williamson oil furnace that kicks ass in terms of heating the house.

Anyway, I do not have a problem with window units and think they work better than central air in some cases, but when it comes to A/C, I just want to be able to turn it on whenever I want if I'm feeling hot and not have to worry about installing it in a window...

These are the A/C units at my parents' house. If we get an unseasonably warm day in February (which just happened), turning them on is as simple as setting the thermostat to "COOL." No muss, no fuss, no bullshit... Just ICE COLD AIR!

    This is the 1 I got: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00CMX20H4/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'm not sure how many amps the stock wiring & relay are rated for but this pig pulls 18 amps. I just used the stock horn wiring to trigger the relay, easy to do since it's all located so close to the battery.

Same thing applies with regards to my Tacoma... My truck is a 2010 purchased new on September 30, 2009. Basically it wasn't really A/C season when we bought it, and I didn't really get to use the A/C until probably 6 or 7 months after we bought it...

In my area, the summer of 2010 is remembered as one of the most brutal in recent history in terms of heat. The A/C in my Tacoma blew freezing the first time I used it and performed flawlessly the entire summer.

Year after year, it continues to blow cold... Hell, I just used it a couple days ago when we had unseasonably warm weather and it worked great!

Back in 2004, my parents traded a 2000 GMC Safari conversion van with less than 36K miles on it for a new Honda Odyssey. One of the reasons they got rid of the GMC is because the A/C leaked, the dealer could never seem to fix it, and then the warranty ran out which meant GM would no longer pay for a charge of R134a... We take A/C seriously in my family...

    Yes.
They offer one with a nipple and a hose. It's as easy as attaching a hose, putting the hose in an oil drain pan, and opening the valve.

Then remove and replace the filter. Shut the valve. Replace oil. Done.

Very little mess, the only place oil can find its own path is when the filter is removed, but there's a thread of remedies for that.

I even have metal ramps to pull my truck onto that I got for free from the same guy who helped me install a new touch-screen head unit and backup camera, but my mom worries about me being underneath more than 2-tons of pickup truck. I love my parents and they really are the best parents in the world, but they are very annoying when it comes to letting me do certain things on my own...

Well if they're afraid you'll get crushed to death then you're probably out of negotiating room.

    Gravity can't be debated.

The stock circuit has a 15-amp fuse (secondary side of the relay that goes to the horn itself.
So this new horn will definitely need its own relay with a larger fuse and maybe larger gauge wiring.

You probably know I have Asperger's, but regardless of what I was diagnosed with, this is just normal parental behavior from two people in their late 50s who are nowhere near as passionate about their vehicles as I am about mine (my dad takes great care of their cars and is impeccable about keeping records, but he'd rather a mechanic does everything):

My parents have been on this earth longer than me and know a lot more about life in general than I do, but I know more about vehicles than they do... Today I got into a bit of an argument with my mom after I actually found the problem with my "clown car horn" and she was worried I'd break something or hurt myself...

Another alternative to a fumoto valve is an oil extractor . No mess either.

    Not arguing that.

I'm just saying.. if their issue is they don't want you underneath a vehicle, then you don't have any options to change their mind.

No ramps or axle stands or drain valves are going to negate the need to have a body under a car.
