Future Taco owner here. On the look out for a new rig.

Found a 2009 4x4 LT truck that is within my budget.
    TC + 3.5" Front
    35" Wheels
    Icon CDC Front LT Coilovers
TC Rear LT Leaf / drop setup.
Home made bed cage with Custom LT Icon CDC bypass rear shocks.
    Front and Rear LSD
    4.56 gearing.

    Reason for post:
The front of the truck is equipped with Icon CDC Front LT 8" Coilovers and Front secondary 8" Kings Bypass shocks.

During the test drive, the front was super stiff. Like crazy, teeth jarring stiff at low speeds. Very nice at high speeds though. Little bit of bump steer.

Some research I find that Icons are Digressive and Kings are Progressive which means the whole front is really working against itself through full cycle no?

Owner states that both are not standard valving but "custom" to work with each other and have the best of both worlds and was built / ordered this way intentionally.

I'm calling BS but want to know what the forums consensus is!

Lastly, I've test drove a few vehicles and none have really handled the best at speed. Kings, Fox, Icons. So maybe It's just me? Something just seems too stiff with this at slow speeds though. Like 15-30MPH.

It wouldn't surprise me with icons being digressive. I have a tc3.5 on mine with kings and at 30 mph it eats up a lot. I don't have bypasses though which can be set up to assist with swaying and stuff. Does he have a receipt or anything from where he got the icon coils from that were valved to go with thto kings? I would find it doubtful that the icons were specially valved to work with kings, but he might of meant that the kings were valved to work with icons. You could get the truck and then sell the coils for some kings.

From what I understand is kings can be built for progressive or digressive if you were to put the shims in the opposite order. If someone could verify this with icons, maybe you could have the icons revolved for progressive instead? I say this, but has anyone ever experienced a progressive icon coilover and whether or not it is even worth the hassle instead of just getting some replacement kings?

    Interesting.

    Following.

I think all shocks can be valved "however" based on the shim stack, so in theory it would be possible. If I already owned the shocks and wanted to pair them, sure... but why not just sell one or the other and buy a matched setup.

I've heard of people mixing and matching front and rear, but never progressive / digressive on same wheel. If the Kings were / are not custom, then where the digressive is soft, the progressive would be firm, and vise versa. They would work against each other completely and would just ride super firm throughout the articulation / travel.
