Given the low head room in the Tacoma, maybe Mr. Sweers is afraid that if he put a height-adjustable seat in the Tacoma, it would would slam driver's heads into the roof, causing lawsuits. :)

I would say buy what gen you like. They are all nice. I have a gen 1 double cab trd and it now has well over 200,000 and its been great. Did the timing belt & water pump, tensioner etc for the first time at 198,000 I intend to drive it another 200,000 I have a 17 taco pro in super white due to arrive in about a week and i happen to love the gen 3. you cant beat the resale of a Tacoma and how tough they are. all vehicles have issues. Toyota is and has always been a conservative company and they will save where they can. But that doesn't mean your not getting a great vehicle. If towing is what you want. I would say buy a full size truck. The GM twins will never match up to a Tacoma. The diesel will not sell well and i don't believe it will be around long. however the new Z72 will rival the taco pro. but i still would not buy one. what ever gen you have, just enjoy it. life is short.
