The Hilux is a much stronger truck that the Tacoma. The 2003 I have is rated as 1 ton capacity. Torsion bar IFS. Boxed Frame. IMHO the 2003-2005 were the best looking Hilux, as the 2006-On were todo feo. You guys in the US wish you could get the D4D diesel there, and I wish I could have a 3.4 gas engine in mine. In Colombia, the only gasoline engine available is the 2.4L 2RZ-FE. Really weak, but w/o US smog regs has ok power. The Hilux is sold in the UK, South America, Australia, and Thailand. Lots of aftermarket stuff available out of Asia, but not much anywhere else. I have looked at all of the Hilux forums, and, in my mind, they all suck. I hang here, because the info available on this forum is absolutely the best. I know I must be boring talking about my Hilux all the time, but I have always loved Toyota trucks, and now I finally have another.
