Hey guys I'm putting up my custom made bed rack for sale. This is a bit of a controversial rack that lead to a rocky dissolving of a friendship, so I want it gone, all offers will be considered, it is bulky so local pickup is a plus. There are good and bad aspects, this was built by a professional fabricator so I can't vouch for specifics but his previous work has been great:

    The goods:

    * STOUT. This thing could easily carry anything you throw at it and won't bat an eye.

    * Has mounting points for a shovel and axe, neither budged during a multi-thousand mile trip covering both rough dirt roads and highway speeds.

    * Only used for a single trip, but the bending and frame construction quality is top-notch.

    The bads:

    * This was designed for a custom mounting system I have on my bed therefore will require modification to mate up to anything you run.

    * It is HEAVY. It is a 2 person installation without a hoist. With a tent or heavy equipment on it it would definitely need a hoist.

    * The bed mounting points were rushed. Unfortunately, he did fantastic work on the rack and majority of the mounting system, but when it came to actually making the plates to mount it up to the bed, he rushed it. As a result half of the maxtrax mount has failed, and there are some sharp edges on the mounting plates.

    * The deck is okay, but was used from smaller sheets of aluminum and catch a bit when you're sliding boxes on it.

    Summary:

To be honest this is about a weekend away from being a fantastic rack. The main structural components were designed well and had some great welding, but was clearly rushed out the door with the final touches. If looking at the damn thing didn't give me such a sour taste I'd fix it myself but I don't want to look at it. I'm asking $300 OBO, any and all offers will be considered. Item is located in the SF Bay Area, 94028.

NOTE: does not come with quickfists or the maxtrax mounting hardware.
