How does your Black Lab handle the sun/heat?

After about 13 years, looking for another dog. Some free Black Lab pups advertised on the local radio stations swap shop. My other late dog was a Yellow Lab X. Any issues or special measures you do when out in the out of doors? My last dog was partially trained as a CARDA dog. (Search and rescue). I live up in the mountains of N Kalifornia. Still can get hot, I backpack every month and snow camp.
