Slow Power Windows

The windows in my 02 Doublecab have slowed down considerably over the years, especially when operating all at the same time. Anything I can do to help with this? I plan to lube and clean the tracks.

 

Subbed, my 04 does the same thing. Occasionally they'll go so slow they almost stop completely. Seems to come and go. Curious what others have to say.

 

You say they slow down when operating at the same time? The wires could be overloaded since the motors are demanding too much power. I could be wrong, just an educated guess.

Take a look at the Factory Service Manual stickied (you will need to download it since the online index is broken) to the top of this forum and pull up a section called something along the lines of "POWER WINDOW DIAGNOSTICS".

It could be your wiring, could be your power window master switch, could be your integration, or could be your tracks are just dirty. Definitely check that document out it'll help tons.

 

This is from alldatadiy for 2002 double cab. I feel like mine are a little sluggish also. I'm wondering if you jump the motor strait to the battery if they will still be sluggish or not. If they are not when connected directly to a battery source I'd assume its some other electrical issue and not a motor going out. If you need any other other info from all data let me know. My right rear window doesn't work and I need to check the motor. It's been pretty low on my list of Taco' things to do lately.



Driver's side:
INSPECT POWER WINDOW MOTOR OPERATION

1. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 2 and negative (-) lead to terminal 1. Check that the motor turns clockwise.
2. Reverse the polarity, check that the motor turns counterclockwise. If operation is not as specified, replace the motor.

Front passenger's side:
INSPECT POWER WINDOW MOTOR OPERATION

1. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 2 and negative (-) lead to terminal 1. Check that the motor turns clockwise.
2. Reverse the polarity, check that the motor turns counterclockwise. If operation is not as specified, replace the motor.

Rear LH side:

Power window relay test. Seems like this would only be more useful is the window wasn't working at all but thought this might help if you want to test it.

 

Things do need to be lubed from time to time.

Pretty simple to measure the voltage at the motor.

Lower the voltage slower the motor

Maybe the fact I seldom use the windows is helping them work just fine.

 

On an old truck of mine I sprayed silicone down the tracks, a lot of it, operate the window then let it dry. No mess and leaves everything slippery.
