Yeah you are right. It's king, Pierce and Snohomish counties, but only the Incorporated areas. I live in unincorporated so FTSTRTA!

    http://m.soundtransit.org/About-Sou...-transit-regional-transit-authority-taxes-faq

Just like getting out of needing emissions, all you need is a physical address somewhere outside the area to skirt the RTA tab tax. A PO box used to work, but they changed that.

I get why Kingco and other counties are doing this as WADOT STILL can't seem to manage $M, so the driver pays.

The core issue is rooted back in 1993: the vehicle licensing fee was voted and changed to a flat fee versus a valued fee.
This was immediately felt by consumers that could now afford a more expensive vehicle.
This wasn't immediately felt by WADOT until the roads and other infrastructure started to fail. Then they were asking "where did all that $ go?!?!"

My vote for "finding $" would be to focus on the e-cars (Tesla, PriASS, Volt, Leaf).
    1. Not paying for gas tax.
    2. Still using roads paid for with gas taxes and fees.
    3. Priority front row parking at many locations.
    4. Fed tax breaks on home electric charging stations.

Seriously, when Tim iyeman? did the flat fee car tab initiative a lot of money went with it. I never really cared since my truck was older than me and was valued low enough it wouldnt break the bank for tabs.

Don't even get me started on EV's.

Dang hopefully I don't lose anything noticeable.
Yeah I just hope it doesn't mess with the ECU and changing how the 4 cylinder and 8 cylinders kick in. I already hate how it is. Lags unless I really get on it then decides halfway thru it wants all 8 cylinders surges.

Oh well I just ordered a flowmaster 40 delta flow. Center inlet dual outlet

My address is on the line
My house is less than a mile from the line where I wouldn't have to pay. That's some complete bullshit.

My wife just used the DOL's tab esimator, and they are calculating her tabs on $63,000 for a 2015 X5 that MSRP'd at $69,000. I figured that out by calculation the value based on the tax, since they'd actually publish those figures. So, it only lost $6,000 in value in 2 years??? Used 2016's are between $58k-$61k at local dealers, so hers shouldn't be anywhere near that. More like $50,000 at the max. So yeah, we are paying at least $150 in extra taxes because of their bogus valuation tables (that are secret!)

"Brad Benfield, a spokesman for the state Department of Licensing, which collects car-tab taxes for Sound Transit, said the formula is just a standardized way to collect tax money, not an accurate representation of a car’s worth."

"It’s not related to fair market value,” Benfield said. “It was designed to be an easy way to collect what’s essentially a property tax on a vehicle. They wanted to make sure that people who had similar cars paid the same tax.

"ST3’s tax increases could have been applied to the more modest valuation chart — which would have meant less revenue for the agency — but, for simplicity’s sake, were not."

In other words, they want more money from citizens who don't know better.

There's legit talk of running amtrak from seattle to pasco again. They can pay for that with your tabs, right?

Of course this doesn't affect all the bicycle McSchwinn idiots; which in my opinion should have clearly labeled bicycle license (they are using the road and sidewalk also) and bicycle insurance (ever been hit by an assumptive bicyclist? Doesn't feel good and typically someone goes to the ER).

Its amazing that all the feel-good-about-themselves liberals voted ST3 in yet NOW they don't want to pay for it... Doesn't work both ways...
The bottom of the sticker shock article is exactly what the clueless sheeple aren't following the money up/down stream - http://www.seattletimes.com/seattle...ch-higher-car-tab-bills-landing-in-mailboxes/

That's tough, I would be pissed. I almost bought a house in Everett too, something tells me people will think twice about which side of that line to live on now if they have an option.
