Hi guys just spent a few hours reading through old posts and can't find what Im looking for through the search. Thought I would make an account and see if anyone knows.

So I want to get some new rims for my 2004 xtracab 2.7l tacoma 4wd.

Stock wheels seem to be 16x7 from what I've read. I am running 265/75r16s. They rub a little bit, but only on super sharp turns. Not a big deal.

My questions is can I switch to 16x8's (not sure if that extra inch will make it rub worse?) and what backspacing I should be looking at.

I'm seeing people say anywhere between 3.5 and 4 which seems to be quite a big difference. And also most people seem to have their trucks lifted if they are running 265/75s. Mine isn't and I don't really plan to do that.

So I guess is anyone running a nonlifted with 16x8 wheels 265/75 tires, without serious rubbing issues and whats your backspacing. I'd prefer not to cut my fenders underneath.

    Thanks for the help.

I run 16x8s with 4.5" bs and 0mm offset. Also have a 2.5"-3" lift with no rubbing (not even close)

Engage Offroad long travel front and rear with some fat tires.
i knew a guy who ran that size tire with no lift on an xcab... 4 to 3.75 inch backspace minimized the rub on full turn and articulation, but it wasn't as bad as on my dcab when i went that size with no lift... i don't recall anyone has ever fully escaped rubbing with that tire size and no lift, but getting away from stock backspace will bring it down a bit...

I'm running a 16x8 0 offset with 265/75s with 2" of lift in the front. Still rubs if I dip just right in a sharp turn.

The guy at my local store says the extra inch of going to 16x8 instead of the stock 16x7 will rub my fenders too hard. Not sure he knew what he was talking about though, trust you guys more.

Although if your rubbing at all with a 2 inch lift then that makes me think he was right. Really don't want to go down to 265/70s but I want new wheels.

265s dont rub at all. Toyota says they will fit a stock truck. You will be fine

I'm telling you though I'm.running 265/75 right now and they rub and it's not lifted. I think you are thinking of 265/70s?

No 265/75 i ran them on my truck before the lift and they cleared everything. You must have a sagging suspension

Hmm. My suspension does feel pretty bad. I got it replaced with stock probably 4 years ago at the dealership. Didn't really feel much different I kind of wonder if they screwed me over on that. I'll look I to better suspension maybe.

When you were running 265/75 stock suspension with no rub what was the width of your rims? 16x7 stock rims or 16x8

    Thanks.

Messure your fender to center hub hight and see what it is.
