    What is the real difference between a tow and non tow package on a Tacoma? Is there a way to make 3500 capacity a 6500 tow capacity

    Towing package includes the hitch, wiring harness for brake controller, larger alternator as well as transmission, power steering and engine oil coolers. You could add all of these items to a truck with out towing package and improve its towing ability however the 3500lb max towing capacity will legally remain.
