Yes, it is good to replace the ones you will pull out. I did this on my '09 and it's not too different on the '16.

Considering the rings are cheap it's best to replace them. I guess you could try to save and re-use.

Also, make sure you test the heater outside the truck first. My first one burned up and would have melted the cloth on my seats if I had installed it first.

Thanks for the information. I will make sure I would most definitely test it out before I install it. Is there any particular brand or website you would recommend as far as purchasing it from?

I ordered new hog rings when I did mine. It is nice to keep the factory attachment points to avoid slop in your cover. That is also the same kit that I used.

I found that reinstalling the hog rings was the hardest part of the job but maybe I just didn't know what I was doing. I used zip ties in place of some of them. Not sure if the zip ties will eventually wear through and break.

Hog rings take practice. But they will get easy. I had a cheap set of pliers, so I borrowed my neighbors dewalt's and made it a lot easier.

I went ahead and added the hog ring set you recommend it. Thanks.

I also was looking at those the problem that I ran into is that I do not have empty slots to put those in so I have to go with the one from Amazon.

I installed heated seats into my truck and it was a fun little project. It took a few hours with my roommate and me doing it. Worst part was seeing the upholstery off, freaked me out a little

Actually that was exactly what I was looking for that lower panel so I could go with that set of the heated seat kit with the switches. Trying to keep everything as close to possible to Factory. In my household we never had heated seats but recently my wife just purchased a Nissan Rogue leather with heated seats it was great for the winter so I wanted to put some heated seats on my cloth seat.

Can you put these kits on the factory seats w/o removing the fabric and put the carhartt covers over them?

Heated seats also amazingly work as a mute button if your significant other is a "talker".

You could always purchase on Amazon it's almost like a half slip on the cover that has a built-in heated seat to the cover but it goes in the car so it's really not the same as a actual heated seat

There are some decent How-To videos on YouTube about installing seat heaters. Doesn't seem too difficult

I did not want to mess with seats since I have airbags in mine. I got some nice seat covers from @Swank and put the heats pads on the seats and slipped the covers over then. Best thing, I can remove them when it gets warm!
