So when off roading & dirt gets in your eyes you don't feel like dying and pulling out your gritty eyeballs on the drive home.

By far the best modification I've made to my truck. The amount of space present inside of the '01-'04 style console is incredible compared to the original '95-'00 style.

Not to mention I'm actually able to house something other than Chinese takeout in the cup holders.

No weaving, just sewing on the cover. I haven't done one in a while so it took over an hour.

I just bought my truck used a couple of weeks ago, and it came with an AVS Bug Shield. Since it came with it, I'm not going to get rid of it.

Bug shields used to be a lot more popular years ago, and I even think I put one on a vehicle or two. I'm not against them, but just don't think of them like in years past.

That's a really nice looking truck. Used Tacos seem to be hard to find...everyone tends to keep them. I keep going back and forth on what my first mod/addition will be. Thanks for the info.

I searched for a 2002 to 2004 Toyota Tacoma Double Cab 4WD with no rust, a good drivetrain, good body and interior with relatively low mileage. I live in Texas but I found my truck in Missoula, Montana. I flew up there, purchased it the next day, and spent the night night in Salt Lake City. The next night, I spent the night with my dad in Woodland Park, Colorado which is right next to Pike's Peak. The next day, down to Texas for a total of a 1,700 mile trip. Had a good time on the road seeing an actual winter, which we didn't have this year.

You got a truck and a heck of an adventure. Well worth the effort.

You did the matching seats as well. I wonder how hard the buckets for an extended cab are to find.

You can find them, problem is finding some in good condition. I keep finding sets that are ripped and torn. I've had seat covers on my bucket seats that came with the truck for almost 20 years. Original owner never took them off. The seats are pristine underneath.

I'd love to put in leather 4Runner seats but I don't want to fabricate or drill into the cab. I hate that they pimped out the 4Runner with fancy leather trim, seats and gadgets and here I am with my crank windows.

I put Subaru Forester XT seats in mine.

Check the 1st gen marketplace forum. Stock seats pop up now and then.

Any pics of the seats? I'd be interested see what those look like. My mom has an '02 Forrester and I think the seats are pretty comfortable. Run into any issues with the install?

I'm on my phone but if you click the link to my build in my signature it'll bring you to the first page of the build. In that first page you'll see a link to the seat swap.

    Definitely an involved process.
