Indeed, glad I get employee pricing haha. Only reason he had to go oem was because they couldn't source a used one and they offered to warranty the new engine again

 

It was, think the final price of it was more around 10 and some change actually haha

 

How is that possible? If I purchase the TRD SC from the Toyota dealer, and have it installed by the Toyota dealer, and have it covered under my powertrain warranty as OEM equipment by Toyota, for a duration of 5 years/60k miles in writing when they were still offering warranties on the TRD SCs, I don't see how you can legally void the warranty a year later. If manufactures could do that, there would be no point in offering warranties.

If the FJ that came in did a self install, or 3rd party install then it is not part of the OEM powertrain warranty and the scenario you mentioned is very possible.

 

Good luck finding a dealer that has a TRD SC

 

If purchased/installed/warrantied by Toyota when they were available, as I and many others did, and the product fails in the warranty period and Toyota cannot replace it, they would be obligated to offer a refund for the purchase. Which could then be used to purchase a Magnuson unit.

 

Cause that's what I was told directly from the source. You can buy the charger, have toyota install it, but they no longer cover forced induction applications.

 

The ones that bought a trd charger when they offered the factory warranty at the time are fine. After 2015 non and I mean NOTHING forced induction is coverd by that same warranty before! It's just like how the new GTR came out with the launch control, was fitted to the car but if used, would void the warranty. Reason? Cause it cost the dealer more to replace and fix the Nissan GT-R transmission then what they were almost selling the car for. Same principle for toyota and the trd sc
