OK mesojdm.... modding a Mirror Turn Signal....RLY??
BUT---it already has a LED from the factory! True, but it also comes with wheels, bumpers, and suspension and everyone seems to change those out.

I call this the ULTIMATE Mirror Turn Signal.
From the factory it has 1 Amber LED emitting sideways through an acrylic rod.
This is OK but leaves dead spots of light in the center. Definitely room for improvement...

Marked my spots, ready to grind:

    LED board slides right in:)
Soldered directly to the OEM connector inside, so This will look 100% OEM.. no hanging wires coming out.:D
    [IMG]

ABS access door cut to fit. I will RTV silicone it in.

You can see my LED bar behind the acrylic. Fits like a glove!! Even bends to the radius of the light
    [IMG]

Stuffed all the way side to side.

    Now for some light pics!!!

    STOCK:
    Front
    [IMG]
The dead spots are much more noticeable.
    Side
    [IMG]

    UPGRADE!!! WOW:headbang::headbang:
    Front:

    Side
    [IMG]

HOLY COW these are bright. Plus I have good light coverage in EVERY direction. = Safer.

    BUT WAIT..THERE'S MORE:

    Look ma! No More chrome
    [IMG]

    Hope you liked my mod.
Check out my Tail light LED build in the lighting section:thumbsup:

Looks good. Is there any way to cut entire lens off to paint the chrome?

ugggg... that's the first thing I tried when I tore it apart.
Unfortunately the chrome is molded on the inside right the to lens. NO way in getting it out. So I am going to thro some smoke vinyl over the outside. The LEDS are bright enough, I don't see it affecting the light output.

That's too bad. I like the smoke vinyl idea. Subbed as always.

Snapped it back in real quick for a picture. Don't know if my camera will pick it up but it's bright.

So how did you put that led strip in the housing? Did you pull apart the housing?

I'd like to see the led on with the side marker lights and flash off for the blinker. How hard would that be?

I thought about that. In fact I was going to do switchbacks (white for DRL, and switch Amber for Turn)
But You would have to have to run new wires through the door boot..

    LED's were about $30/side.

Unfortunately it doesn't just pull apart. You have to cut the backside out(as seen in my pics). Not For the faint of heart..

This is awesome by the way! So you just slipped the led strip in from the cut on the back side?

Yup. Disclaimer; The led will stop about 2/3 the way in. There is not enough clearance, so a 2nd access hole needs to be cut.
