Sorry to report they have no answer for the transmission. I did the upgrade and my truck is still horrible. Slams into the rear end when downshifting. Still have a hesitation when I drive it. Took it back for the second time. The dealer said just drive it you have a 60000 mile warranty on it. Nice answer if you ask me there is a major problem and Toyota better fix it quick.

Is it full of fluid? Many came low, and many dealers are reluctant to properly check it.

Or there are threads around here how to DIY check.

Yes fluid is ok I have a problem. Plus it lunged last night at the stop light on it's on. Thank God I had the foot on the brake hard. Love my truck just not happy with the problem.

Sounds like a low fluid level, that's usually the only reason they slam into gear.

Lunging forward is usually the ac compressor kicking on

Mine used to do this but has stopped as I put more miles on it. After about 7k miles, it seems to have disappeared.

Like others have said, it sounds like fluid level issue. Have you checked it yourself or did the dealership? I'd personally take the truck to another dealership. Some are better than others.

Damn man. I would request the update again. Maybe something went wrong with the update install etc.. I was having similar issues but the TSB seemed to take care of mine. Best of luck to ya.

I wouldn't just accept it and drive it 60k hoping it doesn't grenade afterwards.

Ask to drive a new one on the lot with service manager along.

If it doesn't experience the same issues, obviously there is a problem with yours that needs to be resolved and they need to resolve it.

Involve Toyota sooner rather than later if necessary.

I hear you, my 2017 has been rock solid. Never did any tsb and truck shifts perfectly. Probably only a handful of guys on here have a legitimate problem, the rest is just garbage. Mine could use a little more power, like 4.30 gears and would be perfect.

    Anyone here understand PID?

    Pulmonary Inflammatory Disease!

    Errr, I mean Proportional-Integral-Derivative control...

The TCU has to build a scale to try to determine the setpoint for each shift based on driving habits. Thats takes hundreds of miles of driving to calculate what should be happening and even then, the variables change along the way which alters the operation. People think that once the flash is done, it works like magic.

Some folks are lousy communicators, especially in written form.

So I chose just to ask questions, giving the benefit of the doubt.

If the spiral stays downward (avoiding answers or giving incomplete answers) I'll just move him over to my 'safe place' ( the ignore list )

I currently have over 100 guests, and they are building an addition for new friends and family.

Probably a troll thread but I actually really like the AT in my '17. Performs as expected, it is not a race car, it is truck with plenty of power. I came from a 6 speed manual Jetta TDi, the AT does everything I could want it to do and nothing I don't.
