So when my tailgate is down there is no good way to step up into the bed from the back. I am trying to find an aftermarket bumper or other solution to solve this problem Toyota totally dropped the ball on. No, I don't want to buy the Toyota accessory that you can buy as a step, that is overpriced and only works for getting in on the side you install it.

So you hate it doesn't have a step.

It has a step, but you refuse to buy it.

    And this is Toyota's problem.

I need a solution for both sides not just one. Plus you lose clearance if you install their step up.

If you read my post I wanted a step up when I had the the tailgate down in the back. I already have rock sliders I don't have a problem getting into the bed of the truck from the side.

So you don't have issues using you sliders and stepping over the side of the box, but you have issues stepping on the tailgate when it's down? Sounds like you need a step ladder.

The tailgate is a good 4-6 inches taller than my rock sliders.

Oh ya that is so practical to lug a step ladder around in my bed all the time. Why didn't I think of that. I wanted a clean aftermarket solution.

I read it. The only way you'll get what you want is to either use a hitch installed step which reduces ground clearance and angles, which you said you don't want to do. No bumper sticks out far enough to function as a center step when the tailgate is down. Sounds like a step stool in the bed is your best choice.

Not exactly, Chevy has steps built into the left and right corners of the OEM rear bumper. OP doesn't need a center step, he needs a step into the bed from the back.

So. Here we are. This conversation again. I'm out.

I'm just here for the arguments and banhammers now.

No arguments, not promoting Chevy or hating on Tacoma's, just wanted to make sure the person I quoted understood what OP is looking for.
Am I missing something? I feel like I catch a lot of the good threads but I must have missed one like this :anonymous:

I had a front row seat to "the great banning of 2015." It was horrible. Bumper steps, diesel motors, and rear disk brakes.

Many accounts died in those needless battles. So much waste.

I've heard that Acorn is coming out with new bed lift chair for Tacoma's, and that it will also work during a power failure.
