The only transmission update that worked for me was when I traded my auto for a manual.

Yeah sorry to hear that. I feel like the update helped the low end torque slightly.

Go to your dealer at ask for TSB-6MT. This is going to sound weird, but make sure you ask the sales department and not the service department.

I know the autos are having transmission computer troubles but will switching it to the manual mode help?

It seems like the feelings owners have toward their 3rd gens are one extreme or the other.
Is it really the auto tranny you hate or are there other things you hate about the truck?

The White Knights will be upset with you, if you sell it they will belittle you and if you keep it and complain they will do the same.

I think he is referring to trading the truck in for another 3rd gen tacoma with a manual transmission.

Hey, is that a pro grill? don't forget to keep that when you get rid of the truck.

Really surprised there is no aftermarket reprograming for the engine or trans yet. They had a couple different ones for the 16 colorado i had.

Just what issues were you having prior to the TSB..?? It's not supposed to give more low end torque....

The TSB cleared up a jolting CLUNK I would get when the truck was cold and it downshifted at low speeds. My 2010 taco did the same thing and it was part of the reason it got traded in. I'm running clunk free for now.

Sounds like low fluid is your issue...if full and had the TSB, then I don't know.
I filled mine because they refused to do it on their dime....then I had the TSB... Cruise control issue with refusing to shift back up after cresting the hill was fixed.....

    Works great now...

Just had mine done also at approximately 9800 miles. Can't really tell a difference yet. On the way home though I got the blind spot monitor system not available message!! I got rid of a 7.3 power stroke I was starting to question as far as reliability for this truck. Starting to realize it was the bigggest mistake I've made vehicle wise. Not impressed with this new truck.

It's really the engine is so under powered anything under 3k rpm is the issue. I really think people are blaming the tranny but imo it's this gutless engine is going to be the root cause
