I would entertain a full size like a Tundra or 1500, but lifting would be a necessity. Those full size trucks are low! Except for the Raptor or Rebel, but I'm not about to spend that kind of money. I also enjoy having the rear locker, but finding a truck with one is not easy, although can add the ARB if offered.
Ridgeline is a NO as I need 4x4.

I'm considering a manual Taco at the moment. Driven stick all my life. Just a little concerned about the powerband in the manual.

Edit: I own an auto Taco.

Depending on the package GM trucks will have a Eaton mechanical rear locker. They are functional, but they don't have a great track record with big tires (like 35"+) or heavy horsepower mods. Mine kicked in last weekend when my truck got caught in a snowed over rut out in a field hunting geese. Nice to know its there and works.

If I were going to heavily mod a Chevy- I would opt to go for an aftermarket locker though..

Wrong. I can do anything your "truck" can do but better. Also I don't know too many mommies running the Baja to get groceries and pick up the youngsters.

FWIW...the 4R I had have walked circles around the Tacomas. My impression of it was that it's a mini land cruiser and considering the Trail Edition has many of the same components as the full size version of the LC (KDSS, MTS and CC since 2010).
