hello all, new to the forum. How are Dealerships about warranting service after a level kit has been installed?

I recently bought a certified 2015 Tacoma with 30k. After driving it for awhile noticed a rythmtic vibration that you can feel in the steering wheel and gas peddle along with a matching droning sound. There was some serious vibration around 50-60 mph. Brought it in to a reputable rim/tire place and they said It needed new tires (previous owner apparently didn't rotate) an the toe was way out of alignment. Got new tires and also had a 3/1 level kit put on as well. Car rides great but still have the rhythmic vibration and sound. I put it in 4WD and the noise stops. So, brought it into the dealership and they said I need a new front differential. $3.3k! Because of the level kit they have having a Toyota rep come inspect it.

I just had the level kit put on a few days ago so obviously it has nothing to do with it but was wondering how good the dealerships are about being honest with the inspection.

Thanks for any info. Here's a pic of the truck to introduce myself...

Did it have the vibration before the lift? If so, you probably should have visited the dealer before installing the lift, if not, you are probably SOL.

Probably your needle bearing. Easy fix. Search ECGS bearing. Lots of info on it

I would bet $ on needle bearing. Get a ECGS bushing replacement

It did have the vibration before the lift. I attributed it to the tires. The tires were cupped so badly that is was difficult to feel the other vibration. Once I got the new tires it was much more noticeable.

The dealer told me there was a needle bearing service bulletin on Tacomas. He's seen four of them including mine. He said all of the other three needed more than just needle bearing replacement to fix the problem.

Supposed to bring it in on Monday for the Toyota rep to inspect it. We'll see.......

Do you have a receipt from when the levelling kit got installed (date) if it's only been a couple days I can't see any honest dealer turning you down and blaming the lift. I'd point that out first thing.
