if that's what you want then you'll have to replace the surround as well the 12-15 models are different than the 05-11

Let me just throw in some thoughts.

Why not just buy a 2013 Tacoma if that's what you want?

If too much money (which I would just wait until the money was there, personally, I wouldn't buy a frame rot year), then why not just go for the steering wheel swap and upgrade to a whole new stereo and head unit? My thought process is, if you are going to spend the money to get the Wheel, controls, harness, and stereo off another truck (which good luck with that) then why not just get the wheel and controls and do a whole new audio system? If you get lucky and can find a salvaged truck and get all those items, I still think you are going to be in for around $1,000+ (more if you have to get new steering column). It would be easier to go new everything and get the 2013+ steering wheel controls. You would spend more than that, especially if you go for an amp and a sub (which you should lets not be stupid ;)) but you would have a much better quality system. Stock stereo's in these trucks royally suck.

Just a thought. I'm the kind of person that doesn't mind spending a bit more for quality and/or ease.

PS don't do this with a truck you are just going to turn around and sell. Don't know if you mean doing this with the new 6cyl you want to buy or your current 4cyl. This will be a lot of money and work you will have to rip out and put in your new truck or money you will downright lose in the 4cyl sale. Because mods don't raise the value of the truck. In fact it may mean it's very very hard to sell because people don't want all that modification.

I looked into changing my steering wheel to a new style. The leather on my stock unit was worn. I thought it was way too expensive to be worth it.

So I contacted Redline Goods and ordered a Leather Kit with Thumbgrips and had one of their installers (Nora) professionally install it.

Turned out awesome and I feel it is better than the newer steering wheels. I posted the results on Tacoma Forums.
