Nice box. So clearly you are an expert in this engine and Toyota engineers are wrong? Dude I'm not saying your an idiot or don't know your way around an engine, but to say that the injector cleaning noise is valve tapping or some other design flaw and that its somehow different between the 16 and 17 is silly, hence the foil hat comment. As long as your happy with the new truck. On a side note, I have that same air hose, love it, no kinks ever.

While I agree that dismissing many issues as "normal" is a cop-out, having gotten a glimpse into the life of service writers I can say there are plenty of customers out there who are going to waste your time for actual normal behavior. Just look at the number of people on here who posted up threads concerned about the fact that their alternator light comes on when the ignition key is in the "ON" position but the truck isn't running. No automobile since the dawn of alternator lights hasn't done that, but suddenly they notice and it's a huge problem which definitely means my turd gen is totally a lemon.

Also this is partly why you don't see live oil pressure gauges in cars anymore in favor of an idiot light. People constantly brought their cars back to the dealer "It goes really high when I start the car but then comes down lower once it's warmed up" or "It surges when I accelerate!" and it was wasting the service department's time to politely say "holy fucking shit you colossal dingus that is normal that is what oil pressure does god damn." And while that is absolutely true, you would get people who would piss and moan saying "fucking dealer doesn't know what they're talking about, I know something is wrong and they just don't want to fix it..." and go on trying to get dealers and mechanics figure out what was "wrong" with their completely normal car.

^^This guy speaks the truth.... I've been a dealer wrench monkey in the past, LOL. But now that I'm on the design side, there's a lot of cost cutting for unecessary warning gadgets too.

It is not valves tapping, the sound is LIKE what tapping valves sounds like. Or what bad lifters sound like back in the day when the internal springs gave out. I registered the complaint. A handful of people here have had the same experience. At the dealer I had them set two side by side and compare . They could clearly tell a considerable difference but say that it is withing Toyota spec and that until enough people have the same issue that a TSB would not be produced. Was I worried about it ? No not really. I upgraded for tech and sport package. FYI. The "air hose " is a garden hose hooked to the faucet .... you must not be a real mechanic ? Or real gardener ? Lol. Just giving you back your crap man.

On a lighter note.... really liking that pic from earlier. I'm usually a blackwall outside tire kinda guy, but that wheel tire combo really works on that silver with the black flares!

Looks exactly like my flexzilla air hose...no air hose and a dewalt box, hmmm, who is the real mechanic? Though I mostly rebuild motorcycle/dirt bike engines, only basic auto stuff.

I knew which hose you had, but damn it, his retort was too good.
