To be honest the issues with the Tacoma are pretty small potatoes compared to what other manufacturers have going on with some of their cars.
I won't say my manufacturer but we have issues with our 4 cylinders stretching timing chains as well as the oil pump sprocket is wearing and causing the engine to sound like a hair drier. Not to mention that the turbo oil feed lines didn't come with check valves and bleed oil pressure into the turbo with the vehicle off causing a huge smoke cloud on cold start.
At the same time our V8s are consuming about a quart of oil every thousand miles due to defective valve seals, stretching timing chains, building up carbon and currently gave a campaign to replace the crankcase vent lines, coolant lines to the turbos, both high pressure pumps, vacuum pump and all 8 high pressure injectors just to get the thing to go another 30k miles...not to mention the constant oil leaks they have.
The point is that Toyota is taking their sweet ass time to address them if at all where most of the problems lie. Every car has issues but not every manufacturer is so coy about customer service and addressing problems.

If you gents want to make your lives easier then get one of these setups for your garage. Retractable hose and electrical cord reels. Best thing I've ever done to keep my lines off the floor and makes for such easy access.

My 2017 sure seems to shift smoother as well. They said my VIN number did not fall into the transmission flash category. So I'm overall very pleased with the 17.

I bought an electrical cord and trouble lights that are retractable and they are awesome, next up is an air line.
