I was super excited when I heard the new Tacoma Pro was being released. In preparation of ordering the new Pro I had a few different decisions to make. Color, and options to be specific. In deciding what I wanted I weighed out what vision I had of what I would be using the truck for.

Options??? So I was contemplating having the dealer install a sun/moon roof but ultimately decided against it. Other options that I decided against on were to have the steps and bed cover removed. My idea was that I would have a camper top or rack system put on the truck bed and therefore no use a bed cover. As far as the steps/rock sliders, I assumed the OEM steps/slider would not stand up to any semi harsh use.

I have my Pro now, and have things I'd do different and some that'd remain. I officially
purchased my Tacoma Pro from Modesto Toyota in late October I remember correctly. Now I have about 7k miles on it. I'll tell you what, the most annoying thing about the truck are the springs. Apparently Toyota believes the noise from the springs to be normal..after spending around 50k on a truck the last thing I want to be, is annoyed with the CONSTANT squeaking. The only way I have to stop the squeak is to pressure wash the springs. I've tried grease, wd40 and neither would work. As far as the steps I'm glad with my decision to forgo the factory steps. I currently have Allpro sliders waiting in my garage, but am torn because I have recently observed C4 off-road's pro sliders, and they look legit! kind of make me want to sell the Allpro's, and get the C4's.

    MODS:
    Camper Top:
For the truck bed I had a Snugtop Cap put on. This was a great decision. It allows me a great deal more of privacy and security. I would have a a rail system mounted on the cap, because now if I mount a rack system the warranty is voided. So now my roof top tent has to be mounted above my cab.

    Front Bumper:
I had a bunch of options for armor. Ultimately I chose the Allpro Off-road Baja 2.0 and installed it with the help of my brothers and bro-inlaw. You can watch a youtube overview I have of the bumper and install in the link below. The bumper in my opinion, is impressive. The aluminum is stunning and the steel is strong : ) We definitely pressed the boundaries of our install/mod capabilities.

    For the future:
I have a CBI high clearance on order which will be here in about 3 weeks and will require additional use of my angle grinder. I do know the suspension will need work in the future, especially with all the added weight. So I have work and saving to do : ) we'll see.

If you want to follow some of my truck's progress you can follow my Instagram @modurndaydrifter or my youtube channel which is under modurndaydrifter as well.

Added the Front Runner Slim Line ll today. It took me a long time to get together.
    20170319_141904.jpg

Updated version as of 8/7/18. Just got back from a 10k trip. It has a gfc camper and dual battery setup that we ran. A lot has changed no more sliders although they will be added shortly. I was running 600lb king coil overs and allpro expo springs. I will be changing to 650 lb springs and an add a leaf after my experience on dirt roads in the current set up.

It's been a while since this was updated! The GFC was sold back in August and a Vagabond was put on order : ) the back of the truck has been bare for a while now. Almost 6 months. The Vagabond should be ready any day now and I'm excited. Since the removal of the Vagabond, I've done some more changes: Added Bruteforece weld on slider, went to 650 springs (probably need 700's), added a leaf to the rear, and put a bruteforce fab rear bumper on the back. I've prepped for the Vagabond by making a galley style rear storage space, as well as put on the Voodoo metal truck bed caps. I also added some more Baja lighting. I have some BAMF skids I need to get prepped so I can put them on as well. I also need to work on some communication (radio) here in the near future, but it only costs money.

    Its 3/14/19 here's what she's looking like!

This last week 3/12-3/17 I added a 3.5 TC LT kit. It was a bigger endeavor than I prepared for. Fortunately I had my lil bro/welder to assist with the twists an turns.

I bought the TC spindle gusset and tower mount gusset kit and didn't realize how much it would take to get it done. I think part of the issue we had to get over was the fact that we were in unchartered Territories and we just needed to Ledoux it. The first half took a long time, mostly because we were second guessing ourselves.

The first hiccup came when the RCV Performance axels came in with torn boots. We took our time the first couple of night because the axels had not yet come in. the T/C gusset kits are not perfect. some of the things we needed to adjust for as far as the spindle gussets was that the area near the brake caliper needed to be perfectly Clear of welds. The longest parts were getting the shock tower gussets welded in as best as possible. Also I have the Marlin Crawler cam tab gusset witch made the removal and installation of the LCA's a little bit harder. All in all it was a good challenge and I am happy with the outcome.

latest version added TC +3.5 with fiberwerx 3.5 bulge.

Today I added the Front Runner Slim Line llonel. Took me about 3.5 houes from opening the box to, prep, assembly and completion. It does make noise so be prepared for that if you are looking for a rack. There are a few things that may be helpful for others and I may post a video explaining on my YouTube channel modurndaydrifter. Digging the look can't wait to put it to work.

Do you like the baja bumper? Was it worth the hassle? I've been eyeing it for a bit.

How is the line angle from the winch?

If you watch the YouTube vid it'll kinda explain some of that. I had the same concerns regarding the winch but have had no issues. I have had much hard use yet. I believe it's the best on the market now when balancing strength and weight..the reason I got it. There is more to it than just cutting the plastic portion of the bumper. It was daunting ..im not a professional. They do have good deals free shipping etc. I didn't realize the Allpro emblem would be cut into the face so if probably request it to be left alone. The aluminum is stunning in my opinion.

Yep, I watched the video. I was specifically asking if you felt it was worth it now that you've had it on for a while and if youve gotten it out on any trails where you felt it was a marked improvement over the stock bumper.
