My Snugtop shell does not have the sportsman package. They claim a 200lb weight limit. I would like to put a roof top tent up there (say 150lbs), and have my girlfriend and myself sleep in it (300lbs). I am curious if I would be ok- is the 200lb a dynamic driving load limit, and then when I am parked with the tent setup, would I be ok having the 450lbs up there? Curious everyone's thoughts.

Did it with my XV, and it was just fine. Same 200lb load limit

I also have the same XV and have been looking at the same situation before pulling the trigger on an RTT. Good to know it will be fine. Going to run at least 3 bars to spread the load.

I’m running a Snugtop Rebel... I called the (canopy) dealer and I don’t remember the exact weight limit but they said the load capacity was around the same as yours....

Long story short I’m curious of the same thing. I think a RTT looks better on the canopy roof vs. the cab’s roof IMO

Hey guys I found this neat load assist system that might give guys running rtt's on their caps some assurance that their caps won't crack under the weight. I have no experience with this product but found it interesting

Cool, thanks for the link. That’s very much like something I was considering doing on my own.
