It is in your owner's manual, assuming you have it. Look in the back for all fluid capacities and spec. Transfer takes GL-4 75-90. Based on other's recommendations on this site, I will be using Redline MT90. Search for MT90 to see more info...

Man, it just hurt trying to read any of that. Ouch. It looks like what a customer call center in India would say...

Um, nothing, necessarily, if they give you the right ones. You need the crush washers for both the drain and the fill plugs, so you need a pair of crush washers for any single thing you refill (each diff, the tranfer case, the transmission (in manual, anyway).

The transfer and manual transmision use the same thick aluminum crush washers for fill land drain. The FSM specifies 27 ft-lb torque for all of these.

The rear diff takes a pair of slightly different crush washers (slight deformable ridge on one side), and the torque is higher (I think about 39 ft lb IIRC). The rear diff ones can be tough to get off, and I suppose they could be even tougher in the future if you don't use the specified washers and torque. Start with the fill plug so you don't get stuck with an empty diff if it won't come off! You might want to hit them with a wire brush and some WD40 if they are crusty. And use a breaker bar. And don't punch yourself in the face. And don't punch the driveway. And don't punch the truck.

I haven't done the front diff yet, but it uses one totally different plug (I think fill) that is 10mm hex and has a copper crush washer. I don't know that you can get this at Autozone. The drain is the same as the rear diff, I believe.

If you can easily get to a dealership, I would just go get them all there, because they should have them all in stock. In fact, you might want to get a couple extra plugs, too, in case yours are jack up or get damaged when you remove them. You can always return them if you don't need them, but that way you won't be screwed under your truck on Sunday afternoon, which is what Murphy always tries to do...

Note that the Haynes torque values are completely wrong, so don't use those. Use the FSM.

    Hope this helps.

what about the guys that dont have a owners manual?

5.5qt of motor oil for the v6

then... 5qt for both diffs and transfer case? that is all i got :(

that would be nice to have a forum with a nice spreadsheet
    something like this:

    1st gen Taco'

    Motor oil
    v6 5.5qt
    4banger ?qt

    Transfer case (mt90 recommended)
    ?qt

    Diff fluid (75w90 recommended)
    ?qt

    Transmission ( ?? recommended)
    ?qt

Notice the question marks becasue i honestly dont know, im coming from a Skyline motor...

Rear end takes about 3 quarts, front a little under 2, transfer case was a little over 2, and manual trans is about 2.6, I think, someone correct me if im wrong...
Just get 7 quarts of M1 synthetic 75w90 for the diffs and transfer case and 3 quarts of MT-90 for the trans.
Do not put MT-90 in the transfer case.
This is what I did anyways.
