    Hey guys,
I'm in Albuquerque, NM and I am having a hard time selling my Tacoma on craigslist... I have had it listed for about 3 weeks and only had a couple bites on it. I am wondering if I have it priced too high or other options I should try to sell it.

Here's some quick details about it...
    2001 Extra Cab Tacoma TRD 4x4. 3.7L v6
    221,000 miles
    3" Icon/OME lift,
Shrockworks front bumper with Warn M8000 winch.
Trail gear rock sliders/ rear bumper.
    CB radio
    Leer camper shell
    Safari Snorkel
    National Luna Dual Battery setup
no problems and well maintained. It does need new tires, but I wanted the future owner to be able to pick them out, so I drop the price for that.

I have it listed for $12500... I thought it was a fair price, but am I trying to get too much for it? Should I throw some newer tires on it to help it sell?
Thanks, I appreciate any help :)

I'm in California, and when I bought my 03 in 2014, I paid 10 cash, but it only had 139k on it and was a single owner truck that had never been taken off road.
I'm sure you have put a ton of money in to it, but realistically, nobody ever gets that money back when selling.
I don't know the market in your area, but I'd venture to guess that 12.5 is a bit too high.

Cool thanks for the reply Centeno707.
I've tried looking at other similar trucks in my area and it seems like other comparable ones are about $1000 less than what I have mine for. Mine has tons of extras that someone wouldn't have to do, so I figure an extra $1000 is a good deal...
I bought it from a guy who owned an expo company and he put most of the money and work into it. Seems like you got a great deal on your truck! I would have jumped on that.

    No problem man.
Yeah I definitely got lucky. Hope you get yours sold!

Unfortunately, modding a vehicle doesn't increase the value of the vehicle, except to the specific group who value those mods. I would try posting it on off-roading forums, especially regional ones, where people might be looking for a vehicle that is already built like yours. Joe Schmoe on craigslist is probably not looking for a tricked out expo truck. Do you have it listed on the B/S/T section on TW?
By the way, it's a 3.4L V6, not a 3.7L, so make sure you have it listed correctly in your ads. Sounds like a great truck for the right person. GLWS

I had a stock 2002 Tacoma I sold on ABQ Craigs a couple years back. I had it on there for probably about 2.5 months before it sold. In that time i only had a small handful of inquiries. I've noticed that selling something above $10k, especially in NM, is tougher b/c most people have to get loans to pay for the vehicle and many don't qualify. You just have to be patient and wait for the right buyer. I think your price is pretty fair. One of the main things that may scare away some buyers is the mileage. Tacoma enthusiasts know it's not a big deal, but others may not. It may take a little while, but it'll sell.

That front bumper looks pretty sweet on your truck!

My first thought on seeing that list many many miles of off road pounding most likely not the case

Then if I was looking for a Toyota 4x4 Craig`s list would be about the last place I might look if at all

I would check out all the Toyota 4x4 Forums first.

Then the lift kit would push me away from even looking .

Trying to sell a modified truck is hard only a small market looking for what you have.

Compared to I need a 4x4 to haul stuff to job sites in the winter

Take off aftermarket parts and return it to stock.
    Sell the aftermarket parts.
    Lower your price.
You will probably make or exceed the 12.5 after all is said and done.

You have high mileage tacoma with mods that indicate you took this on the trail. As mentioned, that only appeals to a very select few who want an already built rig. For most, they don't want to buy a used rig that was driven hard, or at least appears to have been.

This is what i did with my last Tacoma I sold. It was lifted and S/C'd. I put it back to stock, sold some stuff and kept the rest for my current truck. I definitely made more money this way.

I think for the OP that would be the best way.

I see a snorkel I wonder is this another person that loves to have water over the doors and really wanted a boat

Thanks for the reply DRR. I'm not sure why I typed 3.7 instead of 3.4... Thanks for the correction :) I tried listing it in the B/S/T section and it wouldn't let me since I am new member and hadn't been on for 30 days yet.

Thanks for the encouraging words boostedka. I know what you mean. It seems like banks don't want to approve someone for a high mileage truck. I'll just keep wating for the right buyer to come along. Glad to see another guy from ABQ on here :)

I know what you mean Wyoming09. I know some people want to do the work on their truck themselves and others want to buy something modded and already done so they just get to use it without putting too much work into it. Good call on the Toyota4x4 forums... Any ideas of how to get more local people to be more interested in the truck?

good idea man. I just need to put in some time to part it out. Do you think putting smaller stock tires on it would be good?

Hahaha! You called it! It's like a boat in the sand out here in the NM desert.

With a modded rig like yours, like others have said, it's going to take just the right buyer. They're out there though, and I don't think your price is outrageous, especially for a well sorted rig. Good luck with the sale, brother!
