So introducing myself because the forum internet told me to. I don't currently own a Tacoma, just currently drool over them. I live in the UK, but will be moving back in 1 year - at that time my very first purchase will be a Tacoma (currently the Cement Pro has stolen my heart). So that is the plan. I'm hoping by then I can fine a decent used one in great shape, or maybe a new 2018 version will win me over. Until then, I will continue to look at this forum and dream.

I did own one many years ago. Before I was married in 2000, I had a '98 SR5 extra cab, forest green. I loved that truck, but had to give it up when I got married. For the next many years I drove only a Honda Civic. In 2010 I purchased a 1980 Landcruiser (FJ40) since I had wanted one of those forever, and spent several years building it up (had never done anything like that). Since I am in the UK, it is currently sitting in my dad's garage until I get back. But here is a picture:

I'm quite proud of it and it is super fun to drive, but I always wanted to get a truck again to go along with it. I wanted a Tacoma again because I had such a great experience with it, but I let my wife convince me to buy a crewmax Tundra in 2015 (she wanted something with more room). I liked that truck, but sold it only a few months after buying it because my work transferred me to the UK. There is a part of me that is happy I moved if for no other reason than I get another chance at a Tacoma :)

Anyway, thats my story. Look forward to continued jealousy of the rest of you for the next year.

If the 2018 solves the shit storm of 3rd gen tsb's then bite the bullet by all means, but since you had a 98, I would 100% suggest a used 2015 instead, I promise you won't regret it and your wife will thank you later. Oh and you have to do a build thread for that FJ, love the color! Welcome!
