Who makes the best long travel suspension for the money! Love Icons and Kings, but both are pricey! Who makes an "entry level" long travel suspension that isn't going to drain the wallet? Looking for up to 12 inches of travel.

The least amount of travel you will get will be a 2+ kit at 12 inches of travel. Look at allpro, it's the cheapest one I think

Also mid travel, maybe even just some new shocks and remove the sway bar first

Icon and King are just shocks, other kits are total chaos and camburg
Usually 3-4K for just the kit, not counting shocks and anything for the rear

"Entry level" LT would be a LT kit from total chaos, camburg, all-pro with a LT coilover, not including a secondary shock or bypass. That is already $5k when you factor in the LT kit and the coilover. That only accounts for the front suspension. If you throw in the recommended gussets and bracing, the 4wd axles, and all the other goodies that add up, well you're in deeper and still haven't touched the rear. There is no "entry level" budget friendly LT. You can go mid travel, with front UCA, extended travel coilovers and a new leaf pack with new shocks in the rear. The mid travel setup will still be probably at least $3k.

You might even want to consider just some total chaos stock length ucas & lcas with a King/icon/fox coil over

I would like to go out as I go up (some stance) so I am considering total chaos uppers and lowers, I also don't want to compromise ride comfortability with height. That's why I'm not looking at reg RC lifts or anything like that.

Maybe try to find some people in your area who will take you for a ride in theirs or test drive.

Would love to, but being from Ohio, not many people running a set up like that. I am moving to Georgia in October, and I know there's a pretty big taco community in that state. May have to wait a little while!

Ha i put a LT setup on my last second gen with "friend hookups" prices and it still broke the bank. you have to buy once cry once with long travel or be willing to fix the f*ck ups a bunch. Also, if you plan to hit trails offroad, LT will bite ya in the ass a time or two. i was on trails were i had no option but grind the rims into the rocks because i was too wide, fenders hit the rocks as well, as the other side of the trail was a 30ft drop straight down.

Unless you are bombing through the desert, UCA and then extended travel coil overs will be waaayyy more than enough for you. find a rim that kicks ya out a 1/2" or so and let the width of the tires make up the difference for a wider stance.

What coils and UCA's do you recommend?

Any of the big brands for coilovers are good, Fox, King, Icon. If you go mid travel, go extended travel for the coilovers. Will need stock length UCA to make use of the extended travel. Light racing are adjustable, and the least expensive. Icon, Total Chaos, Camburg all make good stock length UCA. Any of those will work just fine.

The "mid travel" uppers and lowers are stock length so you won't be gaining any width. Long travel arms is the only thing that's going to get you that and as mentioned comes with a hefty price tag.

I've only run Kings, but King, Fox, ADS, Icon, Sway Away will all work.

Aside from the Total Chaos long travel kit, I've only run Bulit Right UCA's (installed on current truck) Zero complaints, they serve their purpose and are more budget friendly than any of the bigger name brands. I just could not justify the added cost for a basic tubular UCA with uniball, although others will argue until they are blue in the face why one is better than the other. Those folks pockets must be a lot deeper than mine

Make sure you are aware of some of the differences with the different coilovers...I run kings as well. My first gen used to have Sway aways. They are a decent cheaper adjustable coilover to the others, but they seemed to rust out pretty fast. I think fox has some good stuff, but I prefer King. Icons are a DIGRESSIVE coilover and arnt progressive like the rest on that list are. Digressive means that the coilover will start out stiffer at slower speeds and get softer at higher speeds, while progressive is the opposite. Depending on your driving, I would recommend some light racing UCAs if you are doing mild off-road stuff. Many prefer the TC arms, but I think Baja kits makes some cool stuff as well. I would get extended coils, UCAs if you have the extra coin or you can hold off. Many save the LCAs as the last item to upgrade for midtravel as it tends to be the most expensive and isn't as crucial for alignment and coilover function as the UCAs will be.
