yeah, i think depending on size/type of lift, is gonna depend on how they will work out. since my lift is pretty minimal compared to alot of them, the 1/4 i used helped out a good bit.

I had the same vibration in my 07, after about 20,000 k of bitching back and forth with the dealership they finally replaced my front diff under warrenty. The vibrations stopped right after it was replaced, there is a tsb out on the front diffs of 07's but no one really knows what the tsb complies with, some say its an engine mount that causes the vibration which eventully leads to the front diff being comprimised but apparently thats just an excuse for toyota to replace a 20$ part compared to a 1850$ part.

Very good thread, lots of good information in here. Snowboarder really seems to know his stuff about driveshafts and vibrations.

I had the rear leaf and shock tsb done and had the dealership do a 2.5" level kit. Have the vibration from about 20-35 mph, put it in 4wd and it goes away. I don't understand if is rear driveline, why would it go away when in 4wd? I think it makes more sense that it is in the from driveline, axle or front diff. Oh, and the dealship said it is normal.

Any resolution to this issue? My 03 has the identical issue as you've described.. it's riding on stock suspension as far as I know.. (bought it used 2 mo ago)

This carrier bearing drop bracket has a 100% success rate on Tundratalk. It's cured the shudder / vibration problem on every single truck it's been used on. Pictured is the one for the 2nd gen Taco and uses a factory hole in the cross member above as a 3rd attachment point to help firm the area up even more. Sold with quality grade 8 hardware. 15 minute install. These can be seen/ordered by clicking my sig below, going to the products page and searching carrier bearing.

The 2nd gen version is brand new and there are currently 2 out now. The second one is sitting in the USPS drop box, I just shipped it. The first guy called me and said it cured his vibes. I'm hoping for the same success rate as the Tundra. It's been discovered the bearing on the Tundra needs to come down 3/4" in stock form.

Any pics of the one you ordered? How much drop does it have? My findings are the bearings need to come down a bit more than most kits/spacer washers allow. I wanted to offer these for less, but the time and materials say otherwise. There are a lot of welds on these. I have no problem posting prices here since I can edit down the road thanks to TCBob's awesome forum. I just dropped 3 of these in the postal box...2 Tundra and 1 second gen Taco. Not 1 person has been disapointed yet, and there about 15 of these on Tundra's now, at least. I lost count.

    $61.95
    USPS priority w/delivery $16.80
    that's medium flat rate ($11.40) + $5.20 for shipping materials & handling
    Total $78.75

You can't beat the price, I hope it works for you. Post up your findings when you install it. Thanks for the 411 too, appreciated.

I don't care about the $50 difference if it doesn't work , I bought my OME lift kit in BC and the kit comes with this CB drop included . Did you get my PM ?

Yep, you have one also with some CB info. I ship parts to a dude in the UK. He just paid about $150 to have some King coil overs and grade 8 9/16" diameter u-bolts shipped....(just the shipping) ouch. He told me to write "used second hand car parts" on the customs form to save him some tax $. They can really get you over there!

Yea - I have a slight vibration that appears worse when its colder out (noticed it this morning when the temp was 31).

I have a 1/4" CB drop, but obviously the pinion angle at the rear axle is still off so I'm hoping a shim will fix that, but before I order I'm going to measure the angles. Why does toyota use a carrier bearing 2 peice drive shaft there isn't anything in the way of using a 1-peice double cardon drive shaft.

Ahh - the joys of modification, I lost that smoth as glass feel but the truck looks much better, and the suspension feels better minus the vibes - so the hunt for perfection continues.

i have no rear lift, but since its been cold i have developed vibes between 30 and 40 mph. I have the billys in the front and they are settled to about 2 inches now. These vibes did not occur last winter as i've had the billys on for over a year now. And i know its not a wheel or tire issue since it does it with my stock wheels and tires that had no vibe previously...would a carrier bearing drop help even with no rear lift?

    Damn guys! Vibes suck.
I never had any vibes until it got cold. I have the drone on the driver side floorboord: (wop wop wop) feeling/ slight sound.
    right around 40 Mph.
Dealer doesnt know what it is or what to do?
I dont know what to do. Even after reading all this stuff.
Is Beefed Tacos CB drop a fix?
do i need shims in the rear?
is there a cure at all?

I just dont understand how changing the suspension can affect the front differential? And why would this happen when it got cold outside?
My dealer doesn't even think it has anything to do with the lift.
So is my truck rare? Or do only people on TW have issues?
Every place I call says they have never heard of anything wrong with the front differentials on Tacomas or anything caused by lifting.

to me....your problem kinda sounds like your tires are flat spotting from sitting. does the vibe go away after you drive for a while?
