This doohicky is on the hood of my new-to-me 07 Tacoma.

After looking at this thing for a week and scratching my head, I think it may be a sharkfin antenna. So what the hell is a sharkfin antenna and why would I want one?

I dont think its ACTUALLY an antenna

Ok...I'm also open to ideas as to just what the hell it actually *is*.

I'm not sure if I'll leave it there or try to remove it. Like the graphics on the sides of the truck, I'm afraid there will be a visible difference in paint shade if removed, and will require a good amount of $ at the body shop to rectify.

Its probably just double sided adhesive stuck on the hood.

Ive seen those at AutoZone and places of the like

You could use some fishing line and cut the adhesive then use some 'GooGone' or something for the residue

I would pop the hood and just be sure its not actually a functioning item, though.

If there is no wire (I'd bet a lot that there isn't) coming out of it on the underside of your hood, it's just a piece of plastic stuck on there. I'd probably try and remove it with a hair dryer and some Goo Gone. It shouldn't mess up your paint.

Some stick on chrome from pep boys
For some mystical reason I felt compelled to leave the stick on chrome isle at Auto-Zone to be here.
