Someone should create a sticky / poll for lets say the top 5 a/t tires. I have a ways to go before my OEMs are used up (only at about 8800mi rn) however I would love to see the results of the above herein.

I drove with the OEM tires in the rain, once ... that was scary.

Another vote for Nitto's! Had them on two trucks and would definitely be my first choice when I get new tires for this one. Haven't owned another AT though only other MT's so I might be biased...

Duratracs aren't bad on and off road. They do wear loudly over time though.

Seriously, what is the best AT tire? :frusty: The answer is what ever each person that posts is running. Try doing some research and giving us some more info first...

What are do you drive normally. How often will you go off road. What types of terrain and where do you live. Do you see tons of rain? Snow? Hot dry weather? Either way what ever you say it has been answered numerous times and if you search will find that answer.

Some info, BFG's will be the most expensive AT tire and most popular because they look the coolest but offer mid pack performance, they will be one of the heaviest and have a higher chance of hydroplaning because of the C shaped tread. Some of the suggestions (AT3w, Duratracs, Ridge grapplers and such are hybrids not AT so they are more aggressive). Some tire treads are deeper (ie the Grabber AT2 have 16/32 of tread in P rated tire). Weight plays a big role in MPG, is that important or do you want to look the coolest? The more aggressive the tire the louder it will be, period.

Just search, so much info on this subject and there is no "best" tire... One of the best tires out there as tested by numerous magazines including expedition and overland magazines for an AT tires is the Cooper AT3, but it has a sidewall that doesn't screen "I off road bro". The General Grabber AT2 is a BFG for a much cheaper price and on par in terms of build toughness and manners with a similar but not quite as cool look. Either of those (Cooper or General) would be my bet for "best" depending on the situation. The generals as noted earlier are great in the winter and have the mountain snow flake and are stud-able.

Come on now. Some tires are better than others but if driving in the rain was scary maybe its not the tires you should be worried about.
