I was looking at "upgrading" my insurance policy for my Tacoma and all the money in aftermarket accessories. After talking to AAA I found out that they offer no additional coverage for the aftermarket. I was wondering if anyone else has put extra coverage on a vehicle? Maybe a 3rd party company?

Front and rear diffs re-geared to 4.88 dirty 30 drive axles. and a rhino pack clutch. Custom exhaust and huge mudflaps!
I had geico and they let me declare all my stuff but i had to have a new policy written to add\declare all the items.........But now i use a commercial insurance policy for the modification coverage.
I had a truck with $7,000.00 in mods S\C and 7th kit and all the goodies. I totaled it and my insurance said they would not cover the supercharger as it was engine modification. I said Bullshit and bought another tacoma within 2 days and had the wrecked truck towed to my house where i stripped it in 1 day and put all the old factory parts into the wrecked truck. And i did not installed any parts in the wrecked truck just had to have it with the truck (customer service rep told me i just have to have what it came with)

My truck has 20k into it and i was having trouble getting it insured. I actually have it insured as a company truck so its considered a commercial policy and vehicles are covered differently and because i have a dual battery\invert-er system on board so it's listed as a service truck.

State Farm covers anything on your vehicle, with no additional policy coverage or premium expense.

Maybe get a price quote and switch.

They paid me $30k for my $24k truck bought new in 2013, with 58k miles on the ODO. Market value of the truck plus all of my aftermarket parts!

All they wanted was me to take a pic of the item on the truck.

Didn't need receipts. Didn't need to prove anything. Didn't even need to submit pics when it got totaled.

    Highly recommend.

State Farm is really fair if your vehicle ever gets totaled. Had a 16 Highlander that was leased , got totaled in an accident. They paid lease off and I got a check back for 500. This was with no money down other then first payment.

it means when he bought the policy they agreed that the truck was worth X amount of dollars. as opposed to when you buy a replacement cost policy, which means we insure it at this rate based on (a Bunch of) different factors and if there's a claim situation in which it is totaled, we'll check the KBB value and write a check based off that number. to stay on topic, once they give you the dollar amount for the totaled truck that's when you mention all your aftermarket parts that were on the vehicle. SF adds it into their check to you

(Condensed Version of how these policies work I am no Expert I'm just a tv game show host:hattip:)

It's like insuring your truck for $60k instead of the $37k the truck is worth, so you don't get paid $20k.

Exactly, In these situations they might ask for an itemized list of parts or pictures so that both parties can agree on the value in case there is a total loss situation
