So I'm in somewhat of a frustrating situation. My only option for internet is HughesNet, which sucks immensely (1.4 mb/s). I have a cafe within a 3 minute walk of my house with a 25 mb/s public WiFi signal. They're only open until 5:30, so I wouldn't be depriving their customers of bandwidth by using it, since almost all my use would be at night. The problem is that I can't quite reach the WiFi signal from my house. In order to use a booster, I'd need at least some signal to boost, right? I know that's the case will my cell booster. Any ideas for grabbing the signal? I know I could get a laptop and sit in my car in the parking lot of the cafe, but that's not realistic. BTW, simply getting my own service through the cafe's wireless provider is not an option for multiple reasons.

I used to have a PCI wireless card (A/B/G) in my tower with a 6 Ft cable connecting 3pole external antenna, it was amazing, I could pick up SSIDs from 1/2 a block away. Your results may vary.

you could do a roof top antenna with a long extension that hooks up to a PCI-e card that has RP-SMA female connections. not sure if would even work but it's a start.

Thanks. I'm not IT savvy, so I might need some help with those acronyms. I do have a 30' mast attached to my house that currently houses the directional antenna for my cell booster, so that's a start. I get one bar of voice/text and occasionally poor 3G from that, so another non-option for internet.
