I'm new to this forum. I have recently started looking for an inexpensive Tacoma as a DD and work truck. I prefer 4X4 but it is not essential.

Inexpensive Tacomas in good condition are hard to come by, it seems.

This dealer doesn't want to budge on the price, even though it is way above KBB. I'm assuming that KBB is pretty much irrelevant here. Truck has high mileage but is clean. I think it is worth about $4,500-$5,000 but I have not seen it in person as it is about 1.5 hours from me.

Thoughts on the mileage and price and what to look for? Any other suggestions?

Its over priced. I recommend you look on Autraders.com or Carsforsale.com. You will find a better price on those sites.

Def over priced. $4,000 is reasonable... but in Texas these trucks last FOREVER so no rust issues...

Wow... very nice condition even with the mileage just from pics. I'd go 4k but no more probably.

Maybe no one else noticed but it's a repaint and a terrible one at that. You can see the paint flaking off in the door jambs.

I would also never suggest asking what one should pay because it's the same ole story. They'll you that you should pick one up for the price of a Ford Ranger, while they sell theirs with the Tacoma tax for top dollar. Buy low sell high.

Looking for signs of a repaint, in my opinion, is a HUGE must do when looking for a used vehicle. Not that the paint itself is the problem, but what the problems/issues are/were to require a repaint. The repaint can be a key 'tell' that should mean deeper and closer inspection is required on the vehicle.

And no way in hell I'm paying top dollar for a Tacoma that has overspray or flaking 'new' paint. To big of a red flag for me because of the other things that come with a repaint.

Well, its eBay and the reserve has not been met so the price will go up.
