    Afternoon Everyone,

I hope everyone is having a good Friday thus far. I have attached a thumbnail of my driver side door to this thread. I noticed this today after scrubbing my truck down. The paint has chipped away in several spots, and I am not sure why. The pain feels bubbled when I run my finger across the panel. The truck is only about 5 years old, so I don't know why this would be happening. Has anyone else had this happen to their truck? Could this be related to the salt that is put down on the roads during winter? It looks like I would probably have to have the whole door sanded down and repainted to fix this...The same issue is starting to happen on my passenger side door near the bottom as well. The paint hasn't flaked off yet though. I would appreciate any insight regarding this. Happy St. Paddys Day everyone!!!

The bottom of the the doors are painted that way for protection mainly against rust too. It's like the rubberized black coat for under carriage.
But my guess is that yours is chipping because of rocks. Are you mudflapps removed?

I have 3/4 mud flaps right now. The one I am missing is the front drivers side.

Do you think I could cover that up with some black roll on bed liner?

This is my rear door as you can see the texture is similar to yours.
The missing mudflap explains the chipping you are having.
IMO you will ruin it with bed liner. Just touch it up with same color and install the mudflap.

    And then...

Honestly, I don't mean to offend, but really?

    First, replace the freaking mudflap.

Is the damage only to the paint or does it go through the underlying flexible chip guard coating to the primer or bare metal?

I just got the truck a couple months ago, guy. I've been trying to find a single drivers side mud flap. So just take it easy with your memes, ya?

It looks like its just flaked away the top coat of paint. I might be wrong though...since I don't work in a body shop, and am not an expert on the topic.

Oh, and I've had several trucks in the past without mud flaps. This problem never occurred with them.

Then go buy a small bottle of touch up paint and you will be good to go. If you use the fuzzy end of a paper match instead of the supplied brush it is easier to get the paint to smoothly flow into the chip.
