I'm not paranoid at all. Quite the opposite, really. More of a realist/pragmatist in practice.

What I *have* seen is a couple situations that ended up going terribly, horribly wrong what should NOT have, simply because the persons in question didn't know their rights or unknowingly got themselves caught doing something stupid.

I was actually planning on going federal law enforcement as a career path (I was lookin at a 'dream job' with the Marshalls, back before Snipes, Ford and Jones made the movies) when football blew my knees out. In college, I started really breaking down the system of law in this country and was so apalled at what I found that I could not in good conscience support that system. So, I changed career paths!

That's neither here nor there though. Whatever you do, don't argue with a cop in the field...you have NOTHING to 'win' and everything to lose. I've seen 99.99999% of good cops get tarnished by the brush used to show how bad cops abuse their power, and I don't like it. But I've also seen entirely too many people in positions of power forget who is supposed to have rights, and who pays the salaries.
