So here I am, one less person living who I called a friend. Murdered early this morning, she was shot multiple times through the head, all because she ran with the wrong people who we're doing the wrong things. She just graduated last year. It doesn't make sense why shit like this happens or why we don't try to fix it. Anyone have a personal story and are willing to share? Anything to get my mind off this for the night.

I'm sorry for your loss OP. I'm 58 and have seen a fair share of loss and things that defy logic. There's just a randomness to all things and life is not a graceful, smooth arch. Don't spend time trying to figure it out cause ya can't, just learn to appreciate living and those around you.

Thank you. I appreciate it. Problem is I'm waiting on more direct photos of faces, I may actually know the two suspects that left the scene after they killed her, which makes things ten times worse. And of course my entire family is LEO so it's more of a personal thing now to find who did this. Things just seem to happen too fast now, I've got friends getting married right out of HS which makes no sense either. They dont even have a stable career and their going out on a limb getting married at such a young age.

In this case, I think you already did, below.

Consequences of our own choices are one of the big factors. Not the only of course, but significant.

Consequences of the choices of others are another key factor. It gets splashed on innocent people sometimes.

I am very sorry for your loss. Truly. I've experienced similar, multiple times, and anticipate more, even within family, unfortunately.

I'm sensing you may be feeling guilt that you knew the situation and that you could have 'saved' her from it.

Don't allow yourself to go there. She was an educated adult and make her own choices. There's no way you can know if you could have influenced her in a positive way or not.

You might consider attending something like GriefShare. Getting help with such emotional things is good for any of us.

We need to learn to care about each other as people. We need to learn that "I" am not the only one in this world. As technology continues to be, we need to remember that there are humans on the other side. We need to take time to think about others and how our actions affect others.

100% and thank you. LVMPD is still trying to figure it out, video from someone's house down the street shows the two getting out of a car that picked them up from the scene and then they just walk out of view. She was educated and was very kind hearted. Pretty much all of last years graduating class knows now because she was known well by a lot. I'm already in grief counseling, Uncle died Dec. 30th, and Aunt on Jan 12th. Life has thrown me around these past couple of months, funerals on both coasts, it's just tiring at this point.

Stay strong brother. Time will lessen the pain. Just try to focus on the good those people brought into your life.

Mostly stock with a few minor mods.
I've been a teacher for 17 years now and have had 20 of my students die. None of it makes sense, but it almost always involves chemicals in one way or another.

Wow. That sounds horrible. I had a teacher that has been through the same thing. Every time a student or former student dies, she gets a tattoo in there name and a trinket on a special bracelet just for this occasion. At first I thought it was weird but it grew on me over time. Thank you.
