If you plan on doing any kind of "rough" offroading stick with OEM, they are the only type that can take abuse. NAPA used to sell OEM remans but haven't come across recent report that they were still selling them. Most people are picking up extra OEM CVs from junk yards

I have considering pulling one but I would still need to replace boots. It's so dry where I am that rubber doesn't last long no matter what quality. My OEM one is good just torn boots so i figure throw 2 in until i can rebuild my current ones. I heard of a company I think it's called CVJ that rebuilds and sells OEM axles with higher quality boots, which would be perfect. The stealership in town wants $400 per OEM axle but said they can get me Cardone axles in town for $100 a piece. Napa is the same price and the guy claims they are "Remanufactured axles exactly to OEM specs" but I don't know how much I trust that. I mean, the clips they gave me for my front brake pads were kind of the right shape, but bent way out of whack and they were also "to OEM specs" lol
