Im pretty sure I have my tent light situation covered....

I got these battery operated LED christmas lights from Amazon for 7 bucks in the mail today. Like a big dimmy I forgot to buy C cell batteries so I couldnt try em out. I figure would look cool on the bottom when the tent is open. All I need now is a disco ball right!

My Smittybilt tent also came with this really cool LED strip which is pretty dang bright that velcros to the inside of the tent. Also came with the worlds longest USB cord, extra long cigarette lighter plug extension cord and a 2 port USB adapter

Went with yakima from REI! Cant beat their return policy at REI, not to mention their locations throughout the west coast should something break.

    Alright fellow RTT peeps,

got some questions (some specific to a certain demographic and some not)
    1. How many of you leave your sleeping bags and pillows and blankets in the rtt? Have you found a limit to how much you can hold in there?

    2. Mainly for SOCAL people, any good place to camp for the weekend in april? on the beach or near it?

    3. Question 2 leads into this, In Yosemite at a campground I was made to park my truck in an RV spot with a hook up and all which I thought was unnecessary and excessive. So when you all go to designated campgrounds do you park as RV or tent?

    4. Can I make my own anti condensation mat? I noticed while the immediate price is not high on CVT and the similar mats the shipping is what kills the deal (same with the additional anex channel which shipping almost doubles the price) so can I make a mat?

    5. Im looking into getting a MR. Buddy heater or something similar down the road and wondering what steps do you follow to use it safely. Obviously I cant have a propane powered thingy going all night long so do you use it for an hour before bed and then wake up early and turn it on to wake up to a warm tent in a few hours later?
I ask this because while in Yosemite last winter I woke up frozen one night because I cracked all windows, the next night I closed everything up tight and woke up wet from condensation soooooo Im trying to fight that!

    6. What size foam mats fit the Mt. Shasta? Queen?

    Hey man welcome back!

Im gunna respond in an non organized method. My gf is still weird about going to middle of nowhere and camping. I think she is afraid of wild animals, illegal aliens, and some escaped prisoner or something. If you can think of some good places out in socal let me know!

Im glad to know about how much stuff you can fit in the tent! Ive been meaning to buy another piece of memory foam for the tent but seems to be pricey! Any links to the pillows you used?

Yeah one morning we woke up after it being around 34 degrees, windy, and wet and we were completely soaked. This is before I had gotten us real sleeping bags and had not yet soaked the tent in water to help swell the stitching up but yeah figured a heater might help combat this.

Good to know about the mat, maybe I can find a way to get the anex channel thing for cheaper? @Box Rocket you guys carry them too?

Thanks again! Been nice with the tent of the truck lately, can finally see out my rear windows!

The Tepui AC Mats are roughly $130 give or take depending on the tent size. Shipping maybe half that much from the worst I've seen. Definitely doesn't double the price.

Just picked up my CVT Mt. Shasta last night, so I'm going to work on getting it mounted up this week. I'm going to mount it over the topper on some Yakima bars, but I'm thinking I might need a wind deflector for it as I don't have a rack over the cab yet. I'm thinking I could just fab one up out of some plastic or thin metal and attach it to the yakima tracks. Has anyone done this yet? Does it make a noticeable impact?

Super easy. I am a rookie and it only took roughly 5 minutes to setup and the same to take it down.

I've been using mine awhile now. Setup takes about 2-3 minutes and packup is about 5 min due to having to stuff all the blankets and pillows down and carefully stuffing the fabric into the cover as I zip
