So...after several tests and full body CT scans I was told today that I in fact do have cancer.
It is bone cancer. Dr. say's with today's medicine and treatment 8 to 12 years to live.
I am 57. I will keep posting here during chemo treatments. Wish me luck.

George I'm sorry to hear it & I will be thinking of you. I lost my dad to cancer a few years ago and have an aunt going thru it now.

I'd have to guess at your age and rather extended estimate of 8 to 12 years fight it with all you've got man. I'm betting meds & treatment options will improve over that span.

Update: 4/18. the left kidney mass is Renal Cell Carcinoma. Size of a golf ball (stage one) Going to monitor it to see if it grows. Will continue with the Blood cancer treatments and get that under control and then remove the tumor in the kidney and try to save the kidney at the same time. I am in so much pain I have been having trouble sleeping. Not complaining just putting this out there in case someone else is attacked by this cancer. Later guy's.

I realize this is an older thread. I sincerely wish you the best... They can do a lot to treat this these days. Treatments aren't nearly as bad as they used to be, even chemo. Go to a good doctor. MD Anderson in Houston, if you are not already. 57 is not old, stay ACTIVE and POSITIVE.

Oh man, sorry to hear. Stay strong and God bless.
Being in Georgia I take it medicinal green is out of the question? The healing properties of it are natural and have many obscure benefits.

Thanks Everyone I created this thread and will update it as things get better or worse. kinda like a log. People who are going through Cancer or supporting someone who is can gladly add there stories here as well. It will be a long road for me and if by some sinister twist of fate it does not end well. At least we all made more people aware. I have no family cancer history. I have however spent the last 40 plus years in the repair and maintenance industry and I believe that my cancer was caused by the environmental effects of being in and around used diesel/gas motor oil and fuel, antifreeze etc. There is a commonality among some patients history with this but not enough to say this is the true cause. Wear your protective gloves when changing your fluids. We did not have good protective equipment 40 years ago when I started turning wrenches.

Thanks I am a patient @ Emory University in Atlanta. Windship Cancer research center my Doctor only treats Mulitable Myeloma patients. People come from all over the Southeast to this facility. One of the keys to good treatment is to find a Doctor who treats your type of cancer, not just a Cancer Dr. but a specialist.

The moment you're told that you have cancer is so devastating. Forever changes your life, and it affects so many of your loved ones, too. Be ready for multiple unforeseen side effects and complications of the cancer and the treatments. What you are doing is hard - it is absolutely ok to have some bad days and to get frustrated. Just hang in there - it's a fight to the death.

I lost my Dad to Cancer when he was 95, A ton of Doctors told me he would have easily passed the 100 mark had he never smoked. Best Friend and Dad I could have asked for he adopted me when I was 10 Day's old because Him and Mom could not have children. Mom is 90 and lives with me and the Wife.
