Since you don't off-road, any good AT should fill your needs. I'd look into general grabbers, nitto ridge grapplers, or some cooper stt maxx.

I do off-road ... just not as much as I would like. Isn't that the case for everyone on here?

I have a couple of the Baofengs and they work fine but are a PITA to program and are not the quality of a Yeasu. I find if I need to use an HT, I grab a trusty FT-60r. Solid radio, clean and clear audio and is easy to program.

I've used HTs as a mobile many times. I use one in the wife's car and the Porsche as I don't want to mount anything permanent in either car. They work, especially if you get an external microphone, mag-mount antenna and a cigarette lighter adapter they can be pretty serviceable. You'll be able to hit local repeaters with ease, but you won't get too far simplex unless you use an amplifier (which is legal to use for HAM). I have a 100 watt linear that I use with HTs that really gets out a good strong signal. But, if you go to the trouble of properly wiring and installing a linear, then installing a mobile is about the same effort.

HAM radio is a completely different experience than CB. You won't get all the trash talk on HAM, the guys tend to be far more courteous and fellow HAMS will generally go out of their way to help you out.

    That looks better!

I'm thinking trying to link the picture with my build thread isn't possible on my phone. I'll have to try it after work on my computer.

    a bunch of new/used parts....and some skids.
how's it holding up? I'm looking at painting the same part and temp control bezel but not going to do it if the paint is just going to scratch right off.
